    The Ministry of Defence is selling off Chetwynd Barracks in Chilwell.

    It is one of 10 sites being released to provide land for 7,000 new homes and generate £140m, the MoD said.

    The Lord Mayor of Nottingham gave a powerful interview to BBC Radio Nottingham this morning about an abusive marriage she was in 40 years ago.

    Jackie Morris, who's backing a campaign focussed on domestic abuse in faith communities, said it's a "very complex issue".

    "Yes, it is appalling but it's not a random crime - you're in a relationship with this person," she said.

    "I didn't marry a violent man, I didn't marry a monster."

    A bit of information about the aircraft that crashed into a van.

    It's a four-seater Socata TB9 that was built in 1991.

    Images show that one of the wings is now detached and there's extensive damage to the front of the plane where it struck the county council van.

    There are more train woes for passengers this afternoon as a broken-down freight train near Radcliffe has closed the line between Grantham and Nottingham.

    The county council has just told us that one of its highways workers was driving the van when the light aircraft hit it in Lambley.

    Neil Hodgson, the council’s service director for highways, said: “It appears that a light aircraft attempting to take off from a private landing strip in Lambley clipped a County Council highways department Transit van which was travelling along the adjacent road.

    “The passenger side of the van was severely damaged and the windscreen smashed. Our driver was obviously shaken but is, thankfully, otherwise unhurt."
