    Supt Mark Holland, who is head of football policing in Nottinghamshire, has said he's been concerned about the Notts County hooligan group for some time.

    "There's about 60 to 80 'supporters' who have been attending away games, causing problems and disorder" he said. 

    "We don't police more than 50% of the games in Nottinghamshire, but we've been attending all Notts County games in an intelligence-gathering capacity.

    "They're trying to get themselves established, but we've arrested quite a few of them, we've gathered quite a bit of intelligence and there'll be further action to come."

    A cafe which caters for breastfeeding mums opens in Arnold later.

    Charlotte Purdie, 22, said she wanted to create a child-friendly place for parents and grandparents to meet for coffee with their child.

    Supt Mark Holland, head of football policing in Nottinghamshire, said some of those involved in the violence at Notts County football games are as young as 14 or 16.

    He said: "They are managing to drink in pubs away, and rather than arresting them for violence, we are taking them home to their parents and generally we get a good reaction from parents who have no idea what's happening."

    Simon Clark from smoking campaign group FOREST, says the council is "going beyond it's remit" and shouldn't dictate whether staff drink, smoke or eat fast food.

    He said the occasional smoking break can "improve the efficiency of workers" and this ban wasn't just about health because the council is also proposing to ban e-cigarettes and vapes as well.

    "The council is treating people like children," he said. "People know about the health risks of smoking but beyond that councils have no right to intrude to this extent."

    The home county need just 87 runs to win after they bowled Notts out for 175 in their second innings yesterday.

    Nottinghamshire's director of public health Chris Kenny, supports the council's policy of bringing in a smoking ban for employees.

    "Anything the county council can do to promote non-smoking to get people to give up and to have the county council as a beacon of health and well being is all to the good."

    He said the council was trying to be supportive and encourage employees not to smoke during work time.

    After a second capitulation in four days, Notts County manager Mark Cooper has lambasted his players.

    The Magpies were leading 1-0 at half-time at Barnet, but conceded three early second-half goals to lose the game. The same thing happened at Mansfield at the weekend, when they were beaten 5-0.

    Cooper claimed he told his players “you’ve got two managers the sack already, you’re not getting me out”, while also saying he could see the capitulation coming as “he knows what is in the dressing room".

    Barnet manager and former Notts boss, Martin Allen, said the players “turned their backs on their club. Whoever’s brought in those players in, needs to take a long hard look at themselves.”

    Some county council staff told BBC Radio Nottingham they should be allowed to take a cigarette break, just like people take coffee and tea breaks.

    One employee said: "I agree you shouldn't take fag breaks willy nilly, but if you are on a break like your lunch then yeah you can have a cigarette."

    One man said he had stopped smoking in February knowing that this enforcement was possibly coming in.

    Michael Layton was a superintendent with the British Transport Police for 40 years and has written two books on football-related violence.  

    He said organised groups were working at Notts County with the sole purpose of starting violence.

    "Most football fans are decent people who just want to go to a game, but there is a sizeable minority who, through alcohol, get themselves involved in these incidents and tag themselves onto the violence."

    Three people were arrested at last Saturday's match between the Magpies and Mansfield Town and are due in court next month.

    Officers say they're now increasing policing of Notts games as a result.
