    Leave campaigner Roger Helmer said it was difficult to say precisely what would happen if the UK left the EU so "we're dealing with sensible estimates".

    "The sensible estimate is there will be some short term market volatility but very quickly we will establish some trade deals with Europe and with the rest of the world," he said.

    "We will be free of legislation therefore our economy will perform better and we will have more money for schools and hospitals and everything else.”

    Jarrelle Hayden, of Ekowe Street in Basford, Nottingham, has been charged with intending to cause grievous bodily harm., external

    He appeared before Nottingham magistrates this morning and was remanded into custody until his appearance at Nottingham Crown Court in July.

    The Green Party's Kat Boettge asked the panel what will be done about climate change after the "really important" work the EU has done setting "80% of environmental legislation".

    Leave campaigner Andrew Bridgen said: "Only 10% of the word’s CO2 emissions are from the EU, so  90% we’ve got to deal with the rest of the world.”

    Former Chancellor Ken Clarke said the Leave campaign has no immigration policy.

    "They are just frightening you that there are lots of rapists and murderers and child molesters coming in unless we seal our borders. This is Donald Trump type nonsense."

    But Andrew Bridgen said the wages in the UK was a "huge draw" to Eastern Europeans.

    As Stuart Rose said - who is nominally the leader of the remain campaign - that if we left the EU, wages of the poorest people in our country would rise."

    Police have confirmed that a man was stabbed in Basford on Sunday.

    They've charged a man with intending to cause grievous bodily harm, who appeared at Nottingham Magistrates this morning.

    A 29-year-old man was treated at the QMC after being stabbed outside the Stadium Leisure pub in Nottingham Road at about 00:50 yesterday.

    A 28-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of obstructing a police officer has been bailed, police said.

    Patients at the Willows Medical Centre told BBC Radio Nottingham's Rebecca Dickson it had been "getting gradually worse" to get appointments there and waiting times were bad.

    However they said there had not been any major complaints about it but going elsewhere now would be "inconvenient".

    We have not had an update from police on the disturbance that closed off parts of Nottingham Road in New Basford yesterday morning.

    Chris who was DJing at the Stadium pub at the time said: "Everyone was enjoying themselves and I was surprised when I was told to turn the music off because I didn't know what went off outside, and they said there had been a stabbing."

    Former Chancellor Ken Clarke - campaigning to remain in the EU - told last night's debate that he has "some experience of economic policy" and admits predictions are difficult.

    But he went on to say: “Politically our power and influence in the world will be diminished if we leave compared with staying in. 

    "Economically our prospects in the world in the long term will be damaged if we leave.”

  12. Rate of migration is 'not sustainable'published at 12:51 British Summer Time 13 June 2016

    Leave campaigner Andrew Bridgen said the UK does not have the money to pay for services for new migrants after years of investing in public services and infrastructure.

    Sam Walters, chief officer at the Nottingham North and East Clinical Commissioning Group says the closure of the Willows Medical Centre is "temporary" after concerns were raised by the CQC.

    She said patients were being offered appointments at three practices - Peacock Healthcare and Park House in Carlton and the Netherfield Centre in the mean time.

  15. Refugee crisis would 'not be solved by leaving EU'published at 11:54 British Summer Time 13 June 2016

    The debate inevitably moved on to the topic of immigration with a question from the audience.

    Conservative MP Ken Clarke said the problem is not EU migrants who contribute to the economy it is "warfare and anarchy" driving people to Europe.

    "Some of them [refugees] we have a legal and moral responsibility to accommodate. But there’s a limit.

    “Whether we are in the EU or not doesn’t make the faintest difference.”

    Claims by UKIP MEP Roger Helmer that the current immigration policy is racist for keeping out non-Europeans  got a mixed reaction from the referendum debate audience.

    “At the moment we allow unskilled workers from Europe to come but keep out skilled workers from elsewhere… it must be better if we can select people for skills. 

    "Our policy today is a racist policy because we are discriminating in favour of white Europeans.”
