iGas will have to wait until next month now to find out if they will be allowed to drill two exploratory wells in Nottinghamshire.
Councillor John Wilkinson announced the adjournment in order for them to seek legal advice on the late representation.
Misson parish councillor, Jane Watson, said they were willing to wait as it was "obviously a significant piece of new information which requires due to be given to it."

As a result of the late submission from Friends of the Earth the decision on the Misson application has been adjourned.
The chair of the committee, Councillor John Wilkinson, has just announced he has decided to defer it until they next meet on 15 November.

Nottinghamshire Police has not commented directly on the figures as the information is part of an ongoing inquiry.
But the letter sent to people who have reported abuse emphasised the progress they had already made, with former social worker Logins jailed for 20 years.

The latest figures show that 636 historical abuse offences have now been reported to Nottinghamshire Police.
The vast majority - 530 - were reported to have happened at council locations and 485 allegations were against council staff.
One of those was Andris Logins, a former social worker at Beechwood children's home, who was jailed in March for a string of sex attacks on children he was supposed to be caring for.

There have been sightings of him since around Nottingham but officers have urged anyone who knows where he is to get in touch.

It's been revealed a Nottinghamshire Police inquiry into historical child abuse has received about 500 allegations against former council staff.
Detectives from Operation Equinox are investigating abuse in children's homes, across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, over several decades and these latest details have come from a letter police sent to people who've come forward to say they were abused as children.
Police have combined two separate inquiries into sexual, physical and emotional abuse - Operation Xeres, that's been looking at children's homes in the county and Operation Daybreak that's focused on the old Beechwood children's home and locations in the city.
