    Here's more on that story about Kathryn Smith launching an appeal against her murder conviction.

    Smith, 23, who last lived in Sandfield Road, Nottingham, killed 21-month-old Ayeeshia Jane Smith during a "savage outburst" in 2014, causing the girl's heart to rip.

    She was jailed for 24 years earlier this year  but her lawyer now says an interruption by the trial judge during his closing speech caused "prejudice" in the minds of jurors.

    This polytunnel will be filled with Christmas trees in the coming days and about 100 people are expected to attend each showing armed with blankets, hot water bottles and hot chocolate.

    The woman behind the idea is Louise Darby who said she thought the plant centre would be a great location for a "cosy Christmas experience".

    She said: "The spirit of the event is rooted in getting together and doing something together that they will remember and there is an element of nostalgia with these films too."

    Paralympic bronze medal winner Charlotte Henshaw trains at Watermeadow in Mansfield.

    She's been talking to BBC Radio Nottingham about the possible closure of leisure centres in the region and said it would have a "knock-on effect" on people's health.

    "Such a lot of people who live around those areas won't get to use facilities like this in the future," she said.

    "I wouldn't be where I am now if I didn't have facilities locally so it is a shame."

    A Nottingham mother jailed for life for the murder of her 21-month-old daughter has launched an appeal to clear her name.

    Kathryn Smith, 23, who most recently lived at Sandfield Road, Arnold, stamped on Ayeeshia Jane Smith at her home at the time in Burton, Staffordshire, in May 2014.

    Her lawyers claim her conviction is unsafe after the trial judge interrupted her defence counsel's closing speech.

    The three judges hearing the appeal will give their judgement at a later date.

    Western Power Distribution has just told BBC Radio Nottingham that although it brought in a generator yesterday after a fault, someone managed to press the emergency stop button on it.

    So It's been another chilly morning for residents in Holme Pierrepont and Colwick.

    Pauline Simmons is one of the residents affected and said: "It's just not on. They sent a text and said the power is back on but it was only the generator."

    The announcement about the Meden Sports Centre has prompted an angry response - with a petition against its closure reaching 1800 signatures. 

    It adds to a growing concern that some of the county's former coal mining communities will lose much-loved facilities.

    In Ashfield, the council thinks it might be better to focus resources on the district's larger leisure centres and it could see a brand new centre on the outskirts of Kirkby, while the future of Festival Hall, Edgwood, Selston and Huthwaite leisure centres looks far from certain.

    There are fears five leisure centres in some of Nottinghamshire's most deprived areas will close. 

    No decision has been made yet but Mansfield District Council said the Meden Sports Centre in Warsop is no longer sustainable, while four centres in Ashfield are under review.

    Hucknall Town manager Andy Graves leads his side into a game this weekend that represents a return to good fortune.

    They're the lowest ranked team left in the FA Vase and this weekend play AFC Mansfield, who play two divisions higher.

    Graves said: "It's a big game in the respect that it puts us back in the spotlight after a few years in the doldrums".

    In 2005 they reached the FA Trophy final (for higher ranked non-league teams), losing to Grays Athletic on penalties at Villa Park.
