    BBC Local Live

Nottinghamshire Police has issued a warning - after some homes in West Bridgford with external mail boxes were targeted by fraudsters.

It is believed offenders obtained personal details and made fraudulent applications for credit cards. Police said they then intercepted the deliveries by filling the mail boxes with newspapers.

This meant that when the post is delivered, it sits on top of the newspapers, allowing the mail to be easily retrived by criminals thought to have been following Royal Mail staff as they conduct their deliveries.

Plans for up to 400 new homes close to Derbyshire's Grade I listed Kedleston Hall have been overturned by the High Court.

The hall is recognised as "one of the finest examples of 18th Century architecture anywhere", the court was told.

Catesby Estates Limited has been pushing to build new homes on Kedleston and Memorial Roads, 1.7 miles from the hall.

Despite the need for more housing in the area, Amber Valley Borough Council refused planning permission for the scheme.

Catesby Estates appealed and a government planning inspector granted outline consent after a public inquiry. He said the development would not be visible from the hall and therefore did not form part of its setting.

Concerned residents campaigned against the decision and were today handed victory.

The court heard Historic England, the National Trust and the Gardens Trust had all objected to the development as well.

Mrs Justice Lang said the inspector had failed to focus on the "historic, social and economic connections" between the hall and the development site, which once formed part of its sprawling agricultural estate.
