    A spokesman for Nottingham Police said they were checking the case, which was left on Shakespeare Street near Nottingham Trent University, as a precaution but do not believe it is suspicious.

    Elaborate pitch designs, like those seen at Leicester's King Power Stadium, are no more.

    New rules, set out by the Premier League, external ahead of the new season, state that "pitch patterns and designs will no longer be allowed".

    Pitches must now only contain no markings other than the traditional horizontal and white lines.

    The Premier League has said the rules bring the league in line with UEFA competitions.

    Campaigners will be meeting later in an attempt to save a unit at a community hospital.

    There are plans to shut the Chatsworth Ward at Mansfield Community Hospital, a rehabilitation unit for patients with brain conditions.

    Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust has said the decision is not financial, but due to difficulties in recruiting specialist medical staff.

    But Jon Dale, from the Unite union, has said staff are not happy: "They see that if this service goes there is nothing on offer for their patients."

    This is pretty clever - a Boeing jet has drawn an outline of a plane using GPS tracking while testing Rolls-Royce engines over the US.

    The 17-hour flight stayed entirely within the US border and travelled from Washington State, across to Lake Superior before crossing above at least 17 states.

    A man has pleaded guilty to killing his housemate, external at their home in Derby.

    Liam Pennick, 31, was stabbed to death at a house in Allen Street, Allenton, on 2 March.

    Police said 41-year-old James Eames, who had moved in a few days before the killing, admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility at Nottingham Crown Court earlier.

    He will be sentenced at the same court on 12 September.
