  1. Mud chaos leaves Bakewell Show organiser fearful for futurepublished at 08:24 British Summer Time 3 August 2017

One of the Bakewell Show's organisers says she's worried about the event's future after muddy conditions led to major disruption yesterday.

The wet conditions caused major delays for people entering and leaving the main car park and several of the day's equestrian events had to be cancelled.

Janet Bailey said: "This is going to cost us an arm and a leg that we can't afford in the first place.

"A lot of agricultural shows are suffering. Numbers are dropping - people look for other types of entertainment.

"There is fear in the industry that people are losing interest."

She said how things go today is largely dependent on the weather.

"It all depends on the amount of rain we have today. I've been associated with the show for over 30 years and I have never seen rain or conditions like this," she said.
