    Three lads form Eckington in Derbyshire are going to Paris next month to play for England in the Subbuteo World Cup, external in Paris.

    Thomas Price, 14, Joseph Kinrade, 14, and Conor Atkin, 12, will be competing in Elancourt on the outskirts of Paris on 2 and 3 September.

    House prices in the East Midlands are seeing a "mini-boom" according to property website Rightmove.

    Derbyshire has one of the "hottest markets" with asking prices up annually by 7.9%.

    In Nottinghamshire that figure is 7.1% and in Leicestershire it's 6.9%.

    All are more than double the 3.1% annual increase in asking prices seen across England and Wales as a whole.

    A florist has been jailed after evading over £100,000 in VAT and selling smuggled alcohol and cigarettes.

    HMRC inspectors visited Flowers By Scrumpy in Gedling in 2015 and found the smuggled goods under his shop’s counter and in storage boxes.

    Paul Taylor, 54, claimed 630 litres of wine, 2,990 litres of spirits, 5,875 cigarettes, 81 cigars and 4.97kg of hand rolling tobacco were for his personal use.

    Two months later, he was stopped at East Midlands Airport with 4,800 cigarettes and 2.5kg of tobacco. The goods were seized and he was warned on both occasions.

    But when HMRC visited his shop, which doubled as an off-licence, a second time and found 1,000 foreign duty-paid cigarettes and 2.2kg of tobacco in July last year, he was arrested.

    Bank records showed Taylor was lying on his tax returns and records showed sales were not being declared to evade £134,338 in VAT.

    Taylor, of Carlton, was jailed for 28 months at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday after he admitted evading £134,338 VAT and £14,517 excise duty.

    Confiscation proceedings are now underway to recover the stolen tax, HMRC said.

    The Rolls-Royce site has not been evacuated due to the Victory Road gas leak, contrary to local media reports.

    The firm has said it's awaiting advice from the fire service but their buildings are not in the evacuation zone.

    This is 15-year-old Amaree Ross, who has also been reported missing from Hyson Green in Nottingham.

    She was last seen yesterday and may have gone missing with Leah Devale, 14.

    Amaree was last seen wearing a grey hoodie, black leggings and grey boots and was carrying a big black bag.

    Police investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann are to ask for more funds to extend their search, it has been reported.

    More than £11m has been spent on the probe to find the missing girl from Rothley.

    She vanished from the family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal in May 2007, aged three.

    With funding for the investigation in place until the end of September, the Metropolitan Police are to request more money from the government "to pursue a final line of inquiry", according to Sky News.

    It's believed a vehicle has hit the main in Victory Road, Allenton, causing gas to escape, according to the fire service.

    Derbyshire Police have closed Victory Road, where Rolls-Royce is based, Osmaston Park Road and Moor Lane.

    There are two fire engines at the scene, as well as police. The gas board are heading to the site.

    Stewards at Southwell Racecourse made the discovery when checking through picnics on the gates before their Ladies Day meeting on Sunday.

    Racegoers are not allowed to take alcohol onto the site.

    A spokesperson for the racecourse said they are used to people trying to sneak alcohol in in things like water bottles, but admitted someone using a salami and tomato sandwich was "a new one for us."

    The vodka was confiscated and is still waiting to be collected at the racecourse's office...

    This is the home of Angela Verdon - she says the car being followed by police in Derby last night crashed into her front wall.

    She's told the BBC she was at the back of the house watching a film when there was a "very loud bang", which she said sounded like a "blast".

    This was followed by a "scene of incredible activity" with lots of emergency services vehicles.

    She said "somebody was in great distress" so she didn't interfere but about an hour later she had a knock on the door to tell her the gas supply to her house needed to be turned off.

    Firefighters are investigating a smell of burning at Nottingham City Hospital.

    A Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said they were called to the hospital in Hucknall Road at about 08:40 after an alarm went off.

    Pumps from Arnold, Stockhill and Carlton are at the scene.

    Eight new bells, cast to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the battle of Passchendaele, are leaving Taylor Bell Foundry in Loughborough today.

    The bells will travel on two World War I army lorries to St George's Memorial Church in Ypres where it's hoped they will ring out over the battlefield site for a further 100 years.

    They're making a few stops along the way - firstly to visit the war memorial at Queen's Park in Loughborough where there'll be a ceremony.

    The public will be able to see them and wave off the bells.

    A boy who drowned trying to rescue a friend from Beeston weir in Nottinghamshire is being nominated for a Pride of Britain Award.

    Twelve-year-old Owen Jenkins was described as a "hero" by family and friends.

    His body was found in the River Trent on 10 July after a major search.

    Rev Jez Prance, who led Owen's funeral, said: "If ever there was a deserving young man it would be Owen

    "We all like to think that should we ever be in a similar situation we act with the same selfless heroism that Owen acted with."

    Pride of Britain Awards will be screened on ITV in October.

    We've spoken to some people who say they witnessed the crash on the A6 near Alvaston Park in Derby.

    One person said: "A car was going at speed, my son was nearly hit by the car, thank god he's ok."

    Another said: "I heard a car screaming past our house last night followed by a very fast police car. Then for the next hour various sirens and blue flashing lights passing."
