    A Derbyshire man caught up in the most deadly mass shooting in US history says he's still trying to make sense of what happened.

    David Miller, from Chesterfield, was among thousands of people enjoying a country music festival in Las Vegas when it was attacked by a lone gunman from a nearby hotel window.

    The massacre left 58 people dead and another 500 injured.

    Mr Miller, who escaped unharmed, told BBC Radio Derby: "There was a rat-a-tat-tat, like jumping jacks on Bonfire Night. A guy ran past us saying 'I've just seen someone being shot - it's real'.

    "People around us started panicking, there were people falling over. If you didn't keep up you got crushed - it was 22,000 people, many of them trying to get out of the same exit.

    "Right now I'm holding it together. I'm going to wait till I get back home before I throw an arm around myself and get counselling or whatever it is I need."

    It was a historic evening for the Nottingham Panthers last night as they became the first British side to make it through to the Champions Hockey League knockout stages.

    They beat Finnish side Turku 2-0 at the Nottingham Arena thanks to goals from Josh Shalla and Alex Mokshantsev.

    They can win Group F if they win in Turku on Tuesday, or if Swiss side Bern fail to beat Czech team Mountfield.

    Five men questioned by police following a stabbing in Leicester have been released while investigations continue, external.

    A 21-year-old man is in a stable condition after being found with stab wounds in Adderley Road on Monday afternoon.

    Police believe he was attacked at a car wash in nearby Welford Road.

    Olympic champion Adam Peaty is among the first swimmers to be selected for Team England's Gold Coast Commonwealth Games squad.

    The 2018 Games - which take place from 4-15 April - will be the City of Derby swimmer's second Commonwealths. He won gold and silver medals at Glasgow 2014.

    A 25% jump in the number of international students choosing Nottingham Business School has been attributed to Donald Trump's hardline stance on immigration.

    A recent study found a decline of almost two thirds in international students expressing interest in studying business in the US, but business schools in many countries outside the US have seen a rise in applications.

    It's thought concern over plans for tighter restrictions on visas offered to skilled foreign workers in the US could be behind the shift.

    The trust in charge of Nottingham's hospitals has promised action after significant issues with a new computer system.

    Nearly £14m has been spent by Nottingham University Hospitals Trust over the past two years on digitally scanning medical records in an attempt to go paperless - but clinicians have complained some patient data is missing.

    Hospital bosses said patients weren't at risk and they were working to design a system that better meets clinical need and improves patient care and safety.

    An agency nurse who accidentally gave a fatal drug overdose to a care home resident in Leicestershire has been struck off.

    Patricia Rosen, 78, died at Cedar Court Care Home in Wigston in February 2013 when she was given powerful painkillers meant for another patient by nurse Mariana Birsasteanu (pictured).

    A Nursing and Midwifery Council disciplinary panel said her actions "caused or contributed to" Mrs Rosen's death and removing her name from the register was the only possible sanction for her misconduct.

    This is the scene on the A50 eastbound near Sudbury following this morning's crash involving a van, tractor and an agricultural vehicle.

    Police said no-one has been seriously injured but the road is expected to stay closed for at least another hour.

    Highways England, external is reporting the following road problems in the East Midlands:

    • The A50 eastbound is blocked at the A515 Sudbury West junction following a crash
    • There are delays on the A52 westbound near the A511 junction
    • Traffic is slow on the A52 westbound slip road to the M1
    • There's congestion on the A453 southbound between the A52 and the A42
    • The A1 southbound exit slip to the A46 also has delays
