    Today will be the public's first glimpse of Meghan Markle since she became a royal bride-to-be.

    The actress was born on 4 August 1981 and grew up in Los Angeles in an area described as the "Black Beverly Hills" .

    Her acting career began in the early 2000s and her breakthrough role came in 2011 when she was handed the part of Rachel Zane in US legal drama Suits.

    Ms Markle combined acting with other vocations, including running her own lifestyle blog and humanitarian work.

    She met Prince Harry through mutual friends in July 2016 but the pair kept their relationship low-key until making their first public appearance together at the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games in Toronto in September.

    Following the announcement of their engagement, Ms Markle has said she plans to leave acting so the couple can focus on humanitarian causes.

    Their visit to Nottingham Academy is to see how Full Effect is going, a charity established by the prince after he first met young people in the city in 2013.

    It was set up to try and prevent youth violence and crime.

    The doormen at the Pitcher and Piano are hopeful the royal couple will pop in for a pint.

    Crowds gathered waiting for the arrival of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been describing wanting to be part of the couple's “fairytale”.

    Abby Gentile, from Chicago, Mandy Koehler, from Nebraska, and Shannon Jauvequi, from California, who are studying in Nottingham, said they could not believe their luck when they found out the pair were coming to the city.

    “We’ve never seen a prince,” an excited Ms Koehler said.

    “It’s like a fairytale...it only happens once. So it is great timing for us.”
