A University of Nottingham graduate has been handed a top job working with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Image source, PAAmy Pickerill (pictured right), who read history at the university, will be working on Ms Markle's official diary.
Her role will also involve handling any official correspondence Prince Harry's bride-to-be may receive.

Last summer Tina the terrier was found by the RSPCA at a house in Nottinghamshire.
She was living in a crate, along with 40 other dogs, and had a "nasty eye infection".
Image source, RSPCAShe was rescued by the charity, along with most of the other dogs, but she eventually went blind.
She found a new home though - with Julie Iliff and her Westie-cross Tyke in Swadlincote.

"I truly believe that any dog, if they’ve got disability or not, deserves a second chance and a loving home and that’s what she’s got."
Julie is now trying to raise £5,000 to take Tina to a specialist who might be able to help her see again.

The police watchdog is investigating the way Leicestershire Police handled a call connected to the rape and attempted murder of a woman in Leicester.
Charlie Pearce was jailed for a minimum of 11 years last week for an attack in Victoria Park last year.
People nearby witnessed the initial struggle and called 999, but a police patrol failed to find the woman. She was found with "truly dreadful" injuries about an hour later by a passing cyclist.
Leicestershire Police has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

Former Young Musician of the Year, Sheku Kanneh Mason, was joined by some of his siblings at the glitzy event.
The family, from Mapperley Park, performed as the British Academy remembered those the industry has lost in the past year.

A church and a school have been targeted by lead thieves.
Image source, GoogleLead flashing was stolen from the roof of Pilsley CE Primary School at the end of January, police said.
Metal was also taken from the rood of St. Martins Church (pictured) on The Nook at Stoney Middleton.
It is believed this happened some time between Thursday 2 February and Sunday 11 February.

For more than 80 years Connors of Hinckley has been selling baked goods to people in the town.
However, the firm has now been passed on to another family - the Wrobels.
The Polish family want to continue baking traditional products at the store, but are also open to the idea of introducing some new food inspired by their home country.
Slawek Wrobel, who runs the business with his wife and two children, told the BBC he's been baking since he was a teenager and that it makes him feel "wonderful".

A delegation from Nottingham are meeting the European Union's chief Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier, in Brussels.

Councillor Jon Collins, the leader of Nottingham City Council, said: "We want to put a strong positive case for the importance of the UK’s city-regions continuing to work with Europe.
"This isn’t about undermining the current Brexit negotiations.
"It’s vital that the UK’s city regions maintain open, productive relationships with other European countries and markets post-Brexit. We’re leaving the EU not Europe."

Police investigating the murder of a Leicester jeweller have made yet another arrest.
The 24-year-old woman is the eleventh person to be detained by the force in connection with the death of Ramniklal Jogiya.

Mr Jogiya’s body was found in Gaulby Lane in Stoughton on Thursday 25 January.
So far, four men have been charged with robbery and the kidnap of Mr Jogiya. No one has been charged with his murder.

A railway trailer became detached from an engine and rolled for about a mile because a linch pin was wrongly fitted, an investigation has concluded.

This was because a linch pin that secured the towbar pin had "almost certainly" been attached "in the wrong orientation," a report for Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) concludes., external
No one was injured as a result of the uncoupling, nor was there any significant damage to the railway.
However, following its investigation, the RAIB has published a number of recommendations which centre on staff guidance and training.

Sports Direct has been criticised by the Church of England over its treatment of factory workers and governance failings.

Press Association understands the church, which has a minority shareholding in the company, wrote to the retailer echoing similar concerns.
It also made its disapproval clear at the group's AGM, voting against the re-election of both chairman Keith Hellawell and chief executive Mr Ashley in 2017.
The Church of England declined to comment.

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man found injured in Hucknall.
Image source, GooglePolice were called to Strathmore Close in the town at about 05:40 yesterday where the injured man was found. He was taken to hospital but later died.
A 20-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of his murder.

Two people arrested after a hit-and-run in Leicester have been released from police custody.
A 32-year-old man and 26-year-old woman were arrested after a man was knocked over on a zebra crossing on St Peter’s Road on Thursday 8 February.
The man has been released without charge and the woman has been released while police continue to investigate further.
The 61-year-old victim is still recovering in hospital. Police have recovered a vehicle in connection with the crash.

NHS bosses say the health service in parts of Nottinghamshire remains under pressure, but it has downgraded the level of alert.

The prime minister will be in Derbyshire later to announce an independent review of university tuition fees and student finance.

She will also argue for an end to "outdated attitudes" that favour university over technical education.
Labour says it would abolish fees and bring back maintenance grants.
