    After years of growing her hair long, Sajal Amrat has just had it all shaved off to raise money for the LOROS hospice.

    The fashion retail worker said: "There's a lot of vanity flying about our office - people are shocked I'm doing this".

    Sajal set herself a target of £200, but has raised over £3,000.

    Adrian Walker from LOROS said the money will be used to help the charity do things like feed patients and visit those needing help at home.

    Crossbench peer Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson has praised staff at Nottingham station for helping her get on a train.

    The 11-time Paralympic gold medalist has been an outspoken critic of access for disabled people at railway stations.

    However, in a tweet, external, she said staff at Nottingham had been "wonderful" and "didn't look down" on her.

    He’s been shown around the £6m spray facility, which is due to open this spring, bringing the entire motorbike production under one roof.

    This was the moment the prince put the Triumph badge on the chassis of a Tiger 1200.

    A man who died after being found with fatal injuries at a house in Nottinghamshire has been named as Christopher Pearson.

    The 39-year-old, who is from Strathmore Close, Hucknall, passed away in hospital after he was found in the early hours of Sunday morning.

    A woman, 20, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

    A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery after a 12-year-old girl had her phone taken from her in Derby.

    Derbyshire Police have said the man is being held at St Mary’s Wharf Police Station and will be interviewed later today.

    The child had her mobile phone taken following a struggle with a robber on Sunday 18 February.

    It happened while she was walking along Cambridge Street, having been to the shops on an errand for her mum.

    Over 200 people have applied to be volunteers at the Nottingham Open tennis tournament this summer.

    Nottingham City Council said it had received 218 responses, the highest number since it launched the volunteer scheme in 2015.

    Successful applications are asked to court steward and check tickets during the week-long event in June.

    Last year's Nottingham Open final saw British number one Johanna Konta beaten by Donna Vekic.

    Both players have said they will be returning to the city for this year's tournament (9-17 June).

    A 65-year-old man has been sent to prison for trying to arrange online to meet someone he thought was an 11-year-old girl for sex.

    Paul Jarvis, of Armstrong Road, Retford, did not realise he was actually sending messages to trained police officers.

    Jarvis admitted sending the messages, but in a police interview said he would not have gone through with what he had claimed.

    A jury at Nottingham Crown Court found him guilty of the arranging or facilitation of a child sex offence.

    He was jailed for 15 months, made the subject of a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and put on the sex offenders' register.

    More than £1,300 has been raised for a 12-year-old girl who had her mobile phone stolen in Derby at the weekend.

    The online fundraising page started yesterday afternoon after this CCTV footage was published on our Facebook, external page.

    Paula Wright set up the page with the aim of raising £600 to buy the girl a new phone.

    The robbery happened on Cambridge Street on Sunday afternoon. The girl had been to the local shops on an errand for her mum when the man attacked her.

    Police would like to hear from anyone who recognises the man or has information about the robbery.

    Nottingham-based speed skater Elise Christie has been disqualified from the Women's 1,000m competition at the Winter Olympics.

    A woman, who met and spoke to Jimi Hendrix after a gig, has found a guitar string packet belonging to the rock legend.

    Anthea Connell, 69, made headlines last year when an autographed note to her from Hendrix fetched £5,700 at auction.

    During the same chance meeting in 1967, Hendrix handed Ms Connell, from West Bridgford, a second unsigned guitar string packet.

    It is due to be sold at auction in Etwall, Derbyshire, next month.

    Auctioneers are expecting the item to fetch between £100-150.

    A coastal holiday home, which has been providing breaks for underprivileged children for over 120 years, is set to close.

    Leicester Children's Holiday Centre at Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire, is to shut so the charity can offer "more relevant" holidays for 21st century children.

    Chairman Shaun O'Donnell, said: "We have visited several fabulous holiday centres around the UK and the facilities and activities they offer are wonderful and we agree are more relevant to modern children.

    "People who have donated money or attended our events can rest assured that their money will be paying for holidays in 2018 and beyond."

    Jeremy Corbyn has threatened to sue Mansfield MP Ben Bradley over a tweet claiming the Labour leader sold British secrets to "communist spies".

    Mr Corbyn has denied a series of tabloid allegations that he had meetings with a Czech intelligence agent during the 1980s.

    Last night a Labour spokesman said he had instructed lawyers to contact Mr Bradley to remove the online post or face legal action. The tweet's since been deleted.

    A car has been removed from the tram tracks in Lenton this morning after getting stuck.

    There are currently delays of between 15-20 minutes.

    The tram operator, NET, said it was "working hard" to get the timetable back to normal "as quickly as possible".

    The Duke of Cambridge will tour the factory, meet apprentices and officially open the new visitor centre.

    The attraction, which opened in November 2017, features the bike used by Steve McQueen in The Great Escape.

    More than 300 jobs are set to go following the collapse of Derby-based meat supplier Russell Hume.

    The firm went into administration on Monday in the wake of the Food Standards Agency's decision to halt production following an alleged breach of hygiene regulations.

    Its meat products were recalled last month and chains including Wetherspoon took them off their menus.

    Administrators KPMG said 266 jobs would be made redundant, with 36 staff remaining to help wind down the company.

    It is expected that all 302 jobs will be lost.

    Nottinghamshire Police dealt with six cases of "upskirting" between 2015-17, a freedom of information request has found.

    The practice of covertly photographing under the skirts of women is not recognised as a specific offence.

    The force said of these six cases, two had resulted in criminal charges.

    In one case, a man was seen following a woman around a shop, and taking a picture up her skirt when she approached the checkout.

    Currently police charge alleged "upskirters" with other offences, but campaigners would like it recognised as a specific crime.
