    Severn Trent is inviting people in Ashbourne to find out how it plans to deal with a local odour issue.

    The water company said there have been "issues" with smells in the area and that it wants to do "everything it can" to deal with the problem.

    Three men have been jailed in connection with the kidnap and false imprisonment of a man in Leicester.

    Omar Splatt, from Lime Avenue in Groby, was found guilty of kidnap, false imprisonment and causing grievous bodily harm with intent. The 34-year-old was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

    Dwight Splatt, aged 32 and from the same address, was found guilty of the same offences and jailed for 13 years.

    Ahmed Omar, of Martindale Close in Leicester, was found guilty of false imprisonment. The 31-year-old has been sentenced to five years in prison.

    Police have said that in September last year, while the victim had been dropping a friend off at an address in the city, a man approached his car. He was pulled out from the driver seat and put in the back while a second man got inside and started driving.

    A third man joined them and demanded £20,000 from the victim, who was later taken into a park area where he was kicked and beaten before being put into the boot of his car.

    Lalji Visavadia, from the force, praised the victim's bravery.

    “This was a prolonged and horrific ordeal," he said.

    An elderly man was dragged out of bed and threatened at knifepoint during a burglary in Wollaton.

    It happened in a flat above the Post Office in Bramcote Lane in the early hours of this morning.

    They took the man’s watch and some cash before leaving the property.

    A man targeted the girl in Cambridge Avenue in Derby on Sunday afternoon, eventually making off with her phone.

    Patrik Gunar, 22, from Derby, is in police custody and will appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
