There are more than 100,000 family carers in Leicestershire and Babs Marson is one of them.
When her daughter, now 19, was born with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) she found the support of the Carer's Centre in Leicester invaluable in coping with the diagnosis and adjusting to life as a carer.
Quote MessageCarers are not special people. We are just ordinary people with a special job."
Babs Marson, Leicester Carer's Centre
These days Babs runs the centre as well as still caring full time for her daughter.
She organises social events but also fundraisers to keep the service going so that she can continue to give the same support she received to other people who find themselves caring for a loved one.
Normanton-on-Soar has been flooded for the second time in a week.
Sue Ponting lives in the village and has been trying to slow drivers down.
"Some are speeding through the village and then all the backwash is going into people's gardens and flooding their garages."
Some villagers had blamed the repeated flooding on the drains but Severn Trent said it was a surface water problem caused by the amount of rain.
The Environment Agency said it is helping pump the water away while Nottinghamshire County Council "hopes to have an action plan" to fix the problem.
