Atual Mustafa, 36, denies murdering 37-year-old Sohbia Tabasim Khan, in May last year.

Prosecutor Michael Auty said Ms Khan was killed weeks after she left her family home in Bradford to live with Mr Mustafa at his home in Pear Tree Crescent, Normanton.

He had become increasingly "coercive and controlling" during his relationship with Ms Khan.
