    A horse which is being treated in North Yorkshire after a suspected acid attack is responding well to treatment as a crowdfunding campaign set up to pay for her care tops £11,000.

    Cinders is "doing really well" after undergoing initial surgery to deal with her horrific injuries at Rainbow Equine Hospital in Old Malton.

    She was found dumped in a yard in Chesterfield and the vet treating her says it's the first time they've had to treat a horse for chemical burns.

    Dave Rendle described the suspected attack on Cinders, thought to be just eight-months-old, as "shocking".

    "The fact we knew it was deliberate was hard to take. There were a few choice words said in the office," he added.

    The Royal Derby hospital is planning a 96-bed extension, partly made up of pre-fabricated buildings to help it deal with winter pressures.

    It'd cost around £11.5m and some of the beds could be ready for use by this December, if a planning application goes through smoothly.

    Hospital bosses said the modules could be located on roof spaces or around courtyard/car park areas.

    An entire set of unused tickets from the Euro 96 football championships are to be auctioned after they were found by accident in an old suitcase.

    Hansons Auctioneers in Etwall said the 31 tickets were found in Stoke hidden among a collection of cigarette cards.

    The owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: “I have no idea where the tickets have come from. It’s a complete mystery."

    The tickets, said to be in pristine condition, were for every match at the tournament which was hosted by England and won by Germany

    They're listed for auction in May.

    Trent Lock at Sawley, where three 18th Century waterways meet, could be given conservation status.

    Erewash Borough Council has launched a six week consultation to see if people want the area protected.

    Trains are back to normal on the Midland Mainline after major engineering works disrupted services at the weekend.

    Work taking place in Market Harborough meant there were bus replacements to Luton and back on routes to London.

    Network Rail has said the £50m improvements will eventually see faster train times to the capital.

    Two men have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder after a man was shot in the Sunny Hill area of Derby.

    The 26-year-old was found with a gunshot wound to his shoulder on Coleridge Street on Friday 28 April. He was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

    A third man has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs.

    A dual carriageway into Nottingham was closed for much of Sunday after a crash which left one person dead.

    A car hit a lorry - which police believe was parked in a laybay - on the A610 near Ikea in Eastwood at about 1:25.

    The road was closed in both directions until early afternoon.

    The driver has yet to be formally identified, Nottinghamshire police said.

  13. Man arrested for murder after woman stabbedpublished at 08:09 British Summer Time 30 April 2018

    A 30-year-old woman died after she was stabbed at a home in Bestwood Village in Nottingham at the weekend.

    Paramedics treated the woman at the property in Millbank Place late on Saturday evening but she died at the scene.

    A 32-year-old, found near the scene, was arrested on suspicion of murder.
