Nottinghamshire's Chief Constable has said knife crime in the county is still relatively rare despite a national increase.
Craig Guildford said increased searches for weapons had been carried out recently and it is the only force, other than the Metropolitan Police, with a knife crime team.
He said the team had carried out searches in park bushes and responds to intelligence about where knives can be found.
Nottinghamshire's Police and Crime Commissioner, Paddy Tipping said the force should be investing more money in monitoring social media when it comes to preventing and responding to knife crime.

Derbyshire Police said Ataul Mustafa "never accepted any responsibility or provided an account" for how his partner Sohbia Khan died.
Senior investigating officer Emlyn Richards said Mustafa booked a plane ticket from Manchester to Islamabad on the evening of the murder, "so he clearly believed fleeing the country was an option for him to avoid taking responsibility for his actions".
He said: “His narcissistic and sadistic grooming of Sohbia led her to Derby and within weeks of arriving, she had been tortured over several days and brutally murdered.
"This included being branded with an iron on three separate sites of her body, being punched, kicked and hit with weapons.
“He chose not to give evidence during his trial, providing no answers or comfort to Sohbia’s family in terms of finding out what happened during her final hours.”

A large amount of lead has been stolen from the newly restored roof of St Mary’s Church in Ashwell.
Police have said the theft is believed to have happened in the early hours of Tuesday.
The timing of the theft resulted in an added problem for the church as heavy rainfall meant water was able to get inside.
Church warden Sally Farr told the BBC staff were mopping up inside while a temporary cover was put in place.
Services at the Cottesmore Road church are still able to go ahead and it is hoped insurance will cover the full cost of the repair.

The judge at Derby Crown Court described Ataul Mustafa as a "sadistic, deceitful, dangerous man where woman are concerned" as she sentenced him to life in prison with a minimum term of 33 years.
Lynsey O'Donnell, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said post-mortem examinations showed Ms Khan "had signs of over 30 serious injuries inflicted by Mustafa but most were not life threatening".
She said: “The CPS built a case piecing together the evidence of Mustafa’s sustained behaviour, of how he had exerted control over Ms Khan, even in the early stages of their relationship, including dictating what she should wear.
"We presented evidence of violent abuse and torture, using the enforced wearing of veils to cover her injuries.
“From this evidence, we demonstrated that Mustafa had set out to cause significant premeditated physical and mental suffering and that this was the cause of Ms Khan’s tragic death."

It's World Naked Gardening Day on Saturday.
I've been asking people in Leicestershire if they would entertain gardening in the buff.
One person told me: "Yeah I've tried it a couple of times. Only in the more confined areas where I can get the sun on me but I'm hidden by a bush still. It's really good to feel the air blowing around everywhere but you have to be careful now and then in the nettles."
Another said: "I've thought about it on my allotment but I think it's a bit too cold at the moment."

Care bosses in Nottinghamshire have been told to apologise after complaints against them were upheld by a watchdog.
One case involved a woman who complained that Nottinghamshire County County had withdrawn her personal care budget.
The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman - the independent watchdog that investigates complaints - found that the council was at fault in the way it assessed the woman's care budget but not in the decision it reached.
The ombudsman said the council should improve the way it completes assessments and review its training on the issue.
In another case, the council has apologised over the way it decided to restrict a woman's contact with her adult son.
The council has now agreed to ensure a risk assessment is in place for the woman to visit her son.
The rulings come after the Nottinghamshire council's Governance and Ethics Committee took the decision to discuss and publish all ombudsman findings where fault was found, in order to ensure lessons are properly learned.
The committee's chairman, Conservative Bruce Laughton, who represents the Muskham and Farnsfield ward, said at today's meeting: "This is a new system that's been set up by the committee, because we felt it was important for us to be able to scrutinise those decisions (by the ombudsman) to see whether we could pick up anything."

Concerns have been raised over the appointment of a new £37,000 a year assistant who will be on hand to help the leading Conservative group at Nottinghamshire County Council.
Labour has said the role is unnecessary, and has been created for political reasons, but a leading Conservative said Labour did the same when it was in power.
The council said that the new post will serve as a conduit between the ruling group and the corporate leadership team.
The new post was narrowly approved after a vote at the Governance and Ethics Committee yesterday, in which Labour abstained.

The parents of Madeleine McCann have marked the 11th anniversary of her disappearance by thanking the public for staying with them on the mission to find their daughter.
Kate and Gerry McCann, from Rothley in Leicestershire, said perseverance and hope will remain during their search for Madeleine, who vanished aged three while the family were on holiday in Portugal.
The post on the official Find Madeleine Campaign Facebook page, written on behalf of Mr and Mrs McCann, reads: "It gets harder to know what to say or write as each anniversary of Madeleine's abduction approaches then passes.
"Life is full and busy which helps but Madeleine is still missing and she is still dearly missed.
"She is a real person and still our 'little girl' and as we always have, we will endeavour to do whatever it takes to find her. Thank you so much for staying with us on this mission."
