    A Derbyshire police dog was stabbed four times while on a job last night.

    The force tweeted that PD Axle is currently sedated and awaiting surgery at a veterinary practice in Derby.

    Derbyshire Constabulary's dog section said: "We have our fingers and paws crossed for Axle and our thoughts are with Dean his handler."

    We have contacted the force for more information.

    A team of sword dancers from the East Midlands are preparing to take part in an international festival in Italy at the weekend.

    The Stone Monkeys practice their sword dancing in the back room of a Long Eaton pub.

    The dance originated in the north eastern mining communities, where the leader of the group comes from.

    Firefighters are warning about the dangers of swimming in open water following the death of a teenager in Nottingham.

    A 16-year-old boy died after swimming in a lake at Colwick Park Marina yesterday afternoon.

    Emergency services will today be issuing water safety advice to visitors at the park.

  6. Moped crash leaves man 'seriously injured'published at 08:02 British Summer Time 5 July 2018

    A man has been seriously injured in a crash between two mopeds in Forest Town.

    Pump Hollow Road in Forest Town

    It happened on Pump Hollow Road just before 19:00 last night. An air ambulance was sent out but the injured man was taken to hospital by a road ambulance.

    Police closed the road for a while but it has now reopened.
