    Derby's consultation on improving air quality in the city closes tonight.

    The city council's deputy leader, Matthew Holmes, said there's been "quite a reaction" to some of the proposals.

    I think he means the proposed £12.50 charge for driving into Derby, which isn't the preferred option.

    The preferred option focuses on changing traffic signals and re-routing traffic away from the Stafford Street area.

    The A610 Nuthall Road has been closed following a crash involving two cars in Nottingham this afternoon.

    Emergency services are in attendance.

    Nottinghamshire Police have confirmed the road is closed in both directions and have urged people to avoid the area.

    Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue service said they removed one person from one of the vehicles.

    Three people are now in the care of paramedics.

    Police are appealing for information after items were stolen from two cars and a van in Stanton-in-Peak.

    The thefts took place overnight on 14 and 15 September on Main Road and The Lane.

    A wallet, bank card and mobile phone were among the items taken.

    A foal which was dumped in Derbyshire following a suspected acid attack has made a full recovery.

    In April, Cinders had pioneering surgery using fish skin after a plea for donations raised more than £14,000.

    And now she's found a new home.

    The then eight-month-old foal was injured and "riddled with parasites" when she was found in Chesterfield.

    Vet at the Rainbow Equine Centre in Malton, North Yorkshire, David Rendle said her injuries looked like someone had thrown a chemical substance into her face.

    He worked with a specialist from the University of California and a plastic surgeon from the burns unit at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield, to perform the surgery.

    Cinders' new home is in Yorkshire, the equine centre said.

    In a personal statement read out at Derby Crown Court, Anthony Dealey's victim described the terror she felt when she was followed and then attacked.

    She said: "When he grabbed me from behind, I tried to tell myself that it was a mate messing about, even though I knew it wasn't.

    "He picked me up around my waist and tried to carry me. I struggled and elbowed him in the chest and back-heeled his shin while shouting 'get off me'.

    "It was then that he strangled me and I blacked out. I started to come round and he was raping me, he strangled me again. I thought I had died."

    Reflecting on her ordeal, she said: "It continues to torment me that my mum and brother saw me in the vulnerable state that he left me.

    "I still feel humiliation when I think of all the medical, nursing and police staff who had to witness my injuries, take swabs from intimate areas and photograph me when all I wanted to do was go home and curl up in bed and feel safe, even though I knew they were on my side.

    "It torments me that my mum thought I was dead and obviously still feels anxious when she doesn't see or hear from me at least once a day."

    Bad news for those of you suffering with the closure of the Loughborough Road bridge in Leicester - it's going to remain shut for an extra four weeks.

    Work on the bridge, over the River Soar in Belgrave, started in January and the road has been fully closed since mid-July.

    The closure is down to the installation of a major new flood water culvert and subway.

    Part of the £5m project to reduce the flood risk to more than 600 homes and businesses in the area.

    The bridge is due to remain closed to traffic until Sunday 21 October.

    The work is being carried out by the Environment Agency in partnership with the authority.

    It has apologised, claiming the delay has been caused by a "major telecommunications cable".

    A 29-year-old man has been jailed for 13 months for conning two women out of money.

    Police say that Adam Pelver, of High Main Drive, Bestwood, stole £1,100 from a vulnerable woman after claiming to help her find accommodation in Nottinghamshire as she was moving from South Yorkshire, thinking she was paying a landlord a deposit.

    Then in July this year, police say he stole a further £200 from a different woman's bank account.

    Pelver was sentenced on Thursday, having pleaded guilty to two counts of fraud.

    A 43-year-old man has been found guilty of raping and attempting to murder a woman in Ilkeston.

    Anthony Dealey, from Erewash Square in Ilkeston, had denied attempted murder, rape, sexual assault and robbery at Derby Crown Court.

    The jury found him guilty of all charges after about two hours of deliberating.

    The victim was attacked after getting off a bus in the early hours of 26 November 2017. She had been returning from a birthday party.

    A man has been jailed for three years after drugs were found at his home.

    Police say they carried out a search of Jamie Carter's home in Wyton Close, Nottingham on 25 April, when they found an amount of cocaine, a cutting agent, phones, deal bags and scales.

    Carter, 44, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class A drugs and was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday.

    A man who left a policewoman with a fractured skull and eye socket when he attacked her with a glass bottle in Eastwood has been jailed, external.

    PC Anne Bloomfield and her male colleague PC David Hikin were assaulted by Lee Wright when they were called to reports of him acting erratically behind houses in Mansfield Road in July.

    The 34-year-old tried to avoid being arrested by climbing onto a garage roof and locking himself in a downstairs toilet.

    When the officers tried to lead him to their vehicle, he hit PC Bloomfield twice with the bottle and kicked PC Hikin in the stomach.

    He eventually gave himself up when more officers arrived at the scene.

    Wright, of Moon Crescent, Eastwood, admitted GBH and ABH at Nottingham Crown Court and was jailed for two years and eight months.

    The emergency services in Derby are considering redeveloping the site of an existing fire station and turning it into a base where they'd all have a home.

    Derbyshire Fire Service has said its Kingsway station is "underutilised" since its training function relocated to a joint training centre in Ripley. The 49-year-old building has also been described as "nearing the end of its functional life".

    Discussions have taken place between the fire service, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Derbyshire Police to redevelop the 2.9 acre site with space for them all.

    The new facility could cost £8.5m with work starting by 2020.

    A 999 call handler from East Midlands Ambulance Service talked a shocked mother through the birth of her baby after she unexpectedly went into labour while sitting in the bath.

    Events unfolded so quickly the baby boy was born before paramedics were able to get to the woman's home in Chesterfield last week.

    EMAS said, external: "Tracey Chester in our 999 control room kept everyone calm and he was safely born at 07:25.

    "Claire and Anya arrived moments later to check over mum and baby, take them to hospital, and even managed a quick cuddle before heading off to their next call."

    The service has not named the mother but said she was happy for the baby's picture to be shared.

    Network Rail has apologised after several businesses were hit by a dust cloud caused by track upgrade work near Derby.

    Firms based in the West Meadows Industrial Estate, near Pentagon Island, encountered the cloud on Wednesday.

    They included a car dealership that saw vehicles on its forecourt covered in a film of dust and grit.

    Nick Sandham, from Network Rail, said a dust suppression system they usually employed had failed because of high winds,

    He said: "We didn't know it was going to happen. The water sprinkler didn't work as well as it should have done.

    "On Saturday it worked a lot better as there wasn't such high winds."
