A public inquiry opens today into the contaminated blood scandal of the 70s and 80s.
Thousands of patients were given blood products infected with HIV and Hepatitis C in what has been called the worst treatment disaster in NHS history.
Nottingham's Matt Gregory found out he'd been injected with contaminated blood products when he was 16. He described the impact it had on him.
"You meet someone, you fall in love with them and if you're going to have a sexual relationship with them then, I was putting people at risk.
"I could have potentially infected and ended the life of somebody I loved. For anybody that's difficult but for an emotional 16, 17, 18-year-old that's really hard work," he said.
He hopes to get answers and compensation from the inquiry.
