    Hometown hero Moss, who was voted as the club's number one cult hero by supporters, made 539 appearances for the Spireites, scoring a club record 192 goals.

    His total of 749 Football League appearances also puts him in the top 20 in history.

    Judith Christou said this sort of crime has put her off leaving the charity bags outside: "I never put charity bags out, I take things to the charity shops instead, just because of this kind of thing."

    Ann Musson has questioned if the people collecting her donations are genuine: "I wish the air ambulance collector vans would get a logo painted on the side of their van.

    "We always put bags out every month but sit and watch for them to be collected. We often have no idea if it is the official collector as it is just a white van."

  4. Murals of famous Nottinghamshire faces completepublished at 11:09 British Summer Time 19 October 2018

    A series of artworks along Beeston high street have now been completed.

    Over the past week artwork of famous people from the town have been painted along Station Road by international artist Zabou.

    They pay tribute to actor Richard Beckinsale, musician Edwin Starr and fashion designer Paul Smith, who all have links to the Nottinghamshire town.

    The artwork is over 20ft high and more than 100ft wide, along the side of Birds Bakery and Peacocks.

    People have been planning visits to see the murals from as far as Portsmouth.

    A JCB was used to smash through a shop front a rip a cash machine out of the wall in the early hours of this morning.

    The JCB was left at the scene following the ram raid which happened at around 03:30 at the Co-op store in Welbeck Road, Ordsall.

    A cordon has been put in place to asses the safety of the building.

    A man told a girl he would kill her if she ever revealed he was abusing her in a "game" he created to hide the abuse, police said.

    The woman, who is now in her 30s, said she was subjected to eight years of attacks from Ian Stan Southwood during the 1990s when he lived in Nottinghamshire.

    Southwood, 59, of London Road, Bath, was convicted of three counts of indency with a child and four of indecent assault and was jailed for nine years at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday

    The survivor, who will have lifetime anonymity, said that Southwood "not only took away my childhood" his actions continue to affect her adult life.

    Speaking after Southwood was jailed, she said: "I felt isolated and the isolation turned to anxiety and depression,"

    "I felt lost, like no-one else and alone. I did not know how to cope with the feelings I had as he had taken over my life."

    A man was arrested after a van was found full of charity clothes.

    A Renault Kangoo was found stuffed full of air ambulance bags when it was stopped in Chesterfield yesterday.

    A 56-year-old man was interviewed and has been released while investigations continue.

    Shares in Nottingham-based Games Workshop dropped dramatically yesterday making it one of the worst performing FTSE 250 companies.

    The firm, which makes fantasy miniatures, recently reported doubling its annual profits to £74.5m, up from £38.4m the previous year.

    In a statement the company, based in Lenton, said that compared to the same period the previous year, sales were ahead.

    But it added: "The board remains aware that there are some uncertainties in the trading periods ahead for the rest of the 2018/19 financial year. A further update will be given as appropriate."

    Shares in Games Workshop dropped 165p, or 5%, to 3,165p. It is listed as a FTSE 250 company, the second tier of the largest firms listed on the London Stock Exchange.

    What a difference a haircut can make.

    Three of the eight dogs found dumped in Redmile on Monday have been spruced up by groomers.

    RSPCA inspectors believe the four Newfoundlands, two cockapoos and two Lhasa Apsos had been used for breeding.

    They were described as being "skinny" with "incredibly matted" fur and "covered in faeces".

    The manager of the Kennelgate grooming salon in Gamston said the dogs were "amazing" and had "such beautiful temperaments".

    The father of a man killed when he was hit by a car door opened while he was cycling has welcomed plans to introduce the "Dutch reach" into the Highway Code.

    The method of opening a car door using the hand furthest from the handle forces drivers to turn and look behind them for passing cyclists.

    Sam Boulton was killed in Leicester when a taxi door was opened, knocking him from his bike and in to the path of a van.

    His dad Jeff said: "If only one person is saved from Sam's tragic fate because the driver or passenger has adopted the Dutch reach... then that's a life worth saving."

    A new strategy to make Derby's ageing taxi fleet safer and greener is being put together by the city council.

    Around 80% of taxis are now more than 10 years old, and last year Derbyshire Police raised serious concerns about safety.

    Now the council is looking at schemes that will encourage taxi drivers to trade their vehicles in for newer, cleaner alternatives - running on electricity, or even hydrogen.

    Three people arrested over two stabbings in one street have been released while investigations continue.

    A 32-year-old man was left with life-threatening injuries after he was knifed in Bentley Street, Melton Mowbray on Wednesday evening.

    Officers were called to the street where they found a second man nearby who had also been stabbed. He suffered minor injuries and has since been released from hospital.

    The 33-year-old, from Nottingham, and an 18-year-old man, from Melton, were both arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and later released on police bail.

    The 32-year-old, who is from Melton, was arrested on suspicion of the same offence and released while investigations continue.
