The fire service sent three crews to tackle the blaze in Clayfield Close, Bulwell, at about 20:00 yesterday, and prevented it from spreading to the house itself.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said they believe rubbish on the other side of the garden was deliberately set alight, which then caused trees in the garden to catch fire.

Police have not yet confirmed whether they are treating the fire as arson.

  8. Why has Karanka gone?published at 11:49 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January 2019

    Colin Fray
    Radio Nottingham Sport

It seems there's been some falling-out and disagreements behind the scenes, and this has been speculated on in public since Boxing Day, when it was our understanding he was on the brink of going at that point.

Exactly what the disagreements are about is unclear but it's been fairly obvious for a month or so before Christmas that Karanka wasn't entirely happy with life at the City Ground.

Many fans will see it as a huge shame because he had plenty of support.

Lots of supporters really didn't want to change in the middle of the season again, and it means the last time they started and ended a season with the same manager was in 2010-11.

    BBC Radio Derby

The Landmark block would contain more than 200 apartments but a technicality means the decision isn't final, and could - in theory - be reversed.

Chair of the planning committee, Robin Wood, spoke firmly against the plan, and said he didn't think people would want to live there.

He said: "I'm very much in favour of city centre living but why do you have to do it at the expense of what is Derby's unique selling point...Why we are different and not a clone of Nottingham or the city of London?"
