A mobile unit is to be set up in Spondon after the main post office was blown up by cash machine thieves.
The village has been without a post office since the Chapel Street branch was left severely damaged when raiders set off an explosion to access its cash machine in October.
A mobile unit will operate from the car park of Spondon Village Hall in Sitwell Street every Saturday until the Chapel Street store is ready to reopen.
Paul Johnson, from the Post Office, said "extensive building work" was being done to the branch.

Nine-year-old Lowri Moore has taken on animation giants Disney to urge them to create more princesses wearing glasses.
The schoolgirl wrote a letter to the CEO saying she had not seen any representations of girls or women who looked like her in Disney films, unless they were stereotyped as nerds or geeks
She said it made her feel like she "wasn't beautiful enough".
She told BBC Radio Nottingham: "There are lots of little girls who wear glasses and I do not want all those to feel like I did."
After hearing her story Nottingham illustrator and Disney fan, Natalie Owen, stepped in and has designed a Disney-style princess character for her.
She said: "So many princesses are known for their yellow or blue dresses so I gave her an orange dress because not many wear orange."
Lowri said her glasses-wearing princess would be fun, energetic and adventurous.
Natalie is hoping to turn it into a book telling Lowri's story and to inspire other girls.
Disney has not yet responded.

Ozzy Osbourne has postponed his entire UK and European tour on doctors' orders.
Earlier this week it was announced the rock legend would be unable to perform in Nottingham on Friday after picking up "a very bad case of the flu".
Now the remainder of his tour has also been postponed.
A statement by Nottingham Arena said: "After seeing his physician again, Ozzy has been diagnosed with a severe upper-respiratory infection which the doctor feels could develop into pneumonia given the physicality of the live performances and an extensive travel schedule throughout Europe in harsh winter conditions."
An official statement from the 70-year-old singer said he was "completely devastated" but the tour was likely to resume in September.

Italian prime minister Giuseppe Conte says 47 rescued migrants aboard a charity-run boat off Sicily will be allowed to disembark in the coming hours.
Mr Conte said Italy and six other European countries - including Germany, France and Malta - had agreed to take some of the migrants, which were picked up off the coast of Libya.
It ends an 11-day stand-off over which country should accept them after they were rescued by the boat Sea Watch 3, which included two men from the East Midlands in its crew.
Italy had tried unsuccessfully to push the Netherlands to take in the migrants as the vessel carries a Dutch flag.
The country's deputy prime minister has warned he is considering legal action against Sea Watch's crew for assisting illegal migration.

Telling the council you use a mobility scooter, decorating dos and don'ts and not renting out rooms on Airbnb are some of the proposed changes to Leicester City Council's tenancy agreement.
Tenants are being asked to comment on the changes - with the help of a 67 page document outlining how the new conditions compare to the existing set up.
The changes, if approved, will affect the 21,000 people who are city council tenants. The changes don't apply to housing association tenants and private tenants.
Changes to certain sections of the contract will also afford the authority more power when it comes to taking action against problem tenants.

Could you eat only tinned food?
Retailers are warning that a no-deal Brexit could lead to temporary food shortages, and some people have begun stockpiling tins of food in preparation.
BBC Radio Derby's Andy Twigge set himself a challenge of eating only canned food for a week.
"I did it for a laugh really", he said.
"I love tinned potatoes and marrowfat peas, so I wondered what it would be like to live off tinned food for a while."
He said he's not sure he would call what he did "nutritional" and he didn't check with a dietitian because he only did it for a short period.

Bricks bought in memory of loved ones might not be included in Belper's new Swiss Tearooms.
More than 600 people donated to a "buy a brick" community scheme.
Amber Valley Borough Council has since taken over the project and has said it can't guarantee the inscribed bricks will be used.
Sheila Mallin used to visit the River Gardens with her late husband. She bought four bricks and had been looking forward to seeing his name on the wall.
She said: "I felt quite disappointed. I felt quite hurt as well in a way because it was done with such feeling."
The council said the community group had a number of requests, including later opening hours and access for a community group, and it couldn't meet them all.
