    Officers investigating an alleged assault at a non-league football match have released an image of a man they want to speak to.

    The assault reportedly took place during what police described as "disorder" after the Ilkeston Town v Worcester City match on Saturday 26 January.

    Police are trying to work out how a man ended up on the side of a Mansfield road with serious injuries - because he can't remember.

    They were called out to Derby Road, opposite the entrance to the crematorium, shortly after 7:00 on Sunday 27 January. The man had to be taken to hospital for his injuries.

    Officers are appealing for a second time for anyone who might know what happened to come forwards.

    Schoolchildren have gathered in Nottingham's Old Market Square to demonstrate against a perceived lack of government action on climate change.

    The pupils have joined students from across the country in walking out of school to call for more to be done to tackle the problem.

    Sebastian, 11, from Ilkeston, is attending the protest with his mother Marie Janes.

    He said: "It’s important that kids have their voice heard. If we can come down and make some noise and people see our signs they might think about it more."

    His mother added: "His headteacher was so supportive and so adamant that if Sebastian was willing to stand up for his convictions this was the way to do it."

    A charitable foundation set up in memory of Leicester City's former owner following his death in a helicopter crash is to hand out more than half a million pounds on his birthday.

    Charities and groups of all sizes have been invited to bid for a share of £610,000 being made available by the Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation.

    Leicester City said bids, which should fit the theme "Gift of a Wish" need to be received by the end of this month, external.

    The donations will be handed out on what would have been Mr Vichai's 61st birthday on 4 April.

    A couple who live in a block of flats in Derby say rats are making their life a misery.

    Geoff and Shirley Schofield own a flat at Eaton Court in the city centre but the block itself is owned by the Derby Homes housing association.

    The pair said the rats can be heard running through drains and one recently chewed through a pipe in their toilet.

    Mr Schofield said: "We are totally distressed by this and lie awake at night listening to the rats scurrying along the pipes.

    "Many of the single female residents are living in fear at the moment of what might happen to them."

    Derby Homes told BBC Radio Derby it was arranging for external drains to be thoroughly cleaned and repaired where necessary.

    A 31-year-old man has been charged with burglary and fraud after a cash card stolen during a break-in was used several times in Nottingham, external.

    A mobile phone and laptop were also taken during the theft in Muriel Gardens on 8 January.

    The man, from Nottingham, was arrested yesterday and is due to appear before magistrates later.

    This excellent shot of the Peak District has been crowned the winner of a photo contest to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Britain's national parks being granted special protection by the government.

    The striking image was taken at Chrome Hill by graphic designer Kieran Metcalfe who said he was "completely bowled over" at being named the overall winner.

    Six men arrested on suspicion of fighting outside Leicester City's King Power Stadium before the helicopter crash that killed club owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and four other people have been released on bail, external.

    The brawl took place at about 19:30 following Leicester City's draw with West Ham on 27 October - about an hour before the tragedy.

    Four men from Leicester and two men from London were questioned on suspicion of violent disorder and have been released on conditional bail.

    A 56-year-old man from London who was also arrested faces no further action.

    Leicestershire Police are continuing to circulate CCTV images of six people they still want to speak to about the trouble.

    New figures suggest more than 1,200 of the poorest and most vulnerable people in the East Midlands died last winter as a direct result of not being able to heat their homes adequately.

    The charity, National Energy Action, says fuel poverty affects 230,000 households in our region and has called on the government to improve energy efficiency in cold homes.

    It also wants local councils to be given money so they can enforce minimum housing standards.

    The subject was raised at PMQs on Wednesday. Theresa May said her party introduced the energy price cap and consumers now save £1bn each year.

    School pupils are due to stage a protest in Nottingham's Old Market Square today calling for more action to tackle climate change.

    The event is part of a national day of action organised by campaign group Youth Strike 4 Climate, which will see thousands of children walking out of school to send a message to the government.

    He told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It's important to do something about the things you believe in and I'm terrified of what could happen if we don't do anything about it [climate change]."

    Plans to build Derby's tallest residential building have been approved by the city council.

    The 17-storey Landmark building in Phoenix Street would offer 200 new apartments, as well as a gym, cafe, and car parking.

    Derby City Council's planning committee approved the plans last night by seven votes to four.

    However the building still needs to be approved by the government because of potential damage to nearby heritage sites.

    Hundreds of "witches' marks" believed to be from the 17th and 18th Centuries have been found in a limestone gorge.

    They were discovered at Creswell Crags on the border between Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire and are believed to be the biggest concentration of protective marks found in British caves.

    The "apotropaic" marks were scribed into the cave surface as they were thought to keep evil spirits coming from the underworld.

    Originally thought to be graffiti, they have now been reclassified.
