A woman whose two chihuahuas were taken from a car park has offered a £1,000 reward for their safe return.
Katy Mercer, who lives in Sutton Cheney with her husband Fraser and six other dogs, left Dinky and Doris in the back of her Mercedes GLE while shopping in Sainsbury's in Hinckley yesterday - only to find they had gone when she got home.
She added: "[Leaving dogs in the car] is something I've done hundreds of times with them and my other dogs over the past 20 years and I just don't think anything of it."
She says she called out to them when she got back to her car at about 18:30 to no response, which she said was normal, and only noticed they were missing when she opened the boot at home.
Both dogs have medical issues - Doris is epileptic and requires medication, and Dinky has a luxating patella, which means her kneecaps dislocate easily - so Mrs Mercer is desperate for them to be returned safely.
Mrs Mercer added: "I'm heartbroken. I can't have children so my dogs are my kids."
