    Police are appealing for information after two cars and a van were damaged in a car park in Chesterfield.

    The vehicles, which were parked off Stubbing Road, were damaged overnight between last Friday and Saturday.

    The windows and doors were damaged but it is not thought anything was taken.

    Nottingham South MP Lilian Greenwood has raised concerns about the axing of local radio programmes in Parliament.

    A change in guidelines means Global - the company behind Capital, Heart and Smooth - is reducing some of its locally produced programs and about 100 jobs will be lost because of it.

    The Labour MP said the house should debate the impact this will have on communities where "many people feel left behind, their concerns ignored and voices unheard" and how it will centralise news in London.

    Passengers have narrowly avoided injury after a tree fell on a bus in Derbyshire.

    It happened in high winds on the A6 Derby Road near Cromford just before midday.

    Police were called but a Derbyshire County Council highways team was left to safely remove the tree.

    One of the passengers, David Miller, told the BBC he was on the bus travelling from Matlock to Belper.

    He praised the bus driver, claiming his actions managed to avoid the tree going through the windscreen.

    A bride-to-be was left "in bits" after finding a secret message, from her terminally-ill mother who had died, hidden on her wedding shoes.

    The mother of Emma, from Kibworth in Leicestershire, was diagnosed with terminal cancer and died before her daughter's wedding day.

    But last week Emma, 38, received her bridal shoes in the post, and burst into tears when she saw her mum's final message to her written on them in gold.

    It read: "Wanted you to have a gift from me on your wedding day. Your wedding shoes are my gift to you.

    "Hope you have a magical day. Lots and lots of love and big hugs, MUM xxxx"

    Emma, who is due to get married to fiancé Richard in August, said: "It's been so hard planning a wedding without having her with me, and I have had lots of tears.

    "This is special to me."

    Two Staffordshire bull terriers have been ordered to be destroyed by a court after they attacked a chihuahua and its owner in Chaddesden Woods.

    Both the seven-month-old dog, Milo, and owner, Adele Koleszko, were injured in the attack.

    Christopher Rhule, 47, of Heathermead Close, Oakwood, pleaded guilty to being in charge of two dogs which were dangerously out of control causing injury at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on 5 March.

    He was sentenced to a 12-month community order, banned from keeping dogs for four years, ordered to pay £1,000 in compensation, £200 in costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

    Milo suffered bite injuries to his legs and abdomen and had to undergo specialist surgery after the attack.

    His owner Miss Koleszko, of Oakwood, Derby, who suffered minor injuries, said: "I feel mixed on the verdict. I feel sad that the dogs will have to die but at the same time I feel that the community is safer as a result."

    The destruction of both dogs has been ordered, with 21 days allowed for an appeal.

    Debenhams has said it will "give careful consideration" to Mike Ashley's Sports Direct offer of a £150m loan.

    Shirebrook-based Sports Direct, which is 61% owned by Mr Ashley, confirmed on Wednesday it had offered a loan to Debenhams as part of a deal which would make him chief executive.

    Witnesses are being sought after a man was allegedly attacked on a double-decker bus in Chesterfield.

    Police said the assault took place on a service from Mansfield at about 10:20 on 7 March.

    A boutique shop in Leicester has been named Asian Clothing Boutique of the Year at Britain’s Asian Wedding Awards.

    Nims Boutique opened in 2016 and moved to a bigger store on Narborough Road last year.

    A branch in London also opened earlier this year.

    Two dogs have been stolen from a supermarket car park in Hinckley.

    The two chihuahuas were left in the boot of a Mercedes GLE by their owner at about 16:30 yesterday and when she returned at 18:30, the dogs - Dinky and Doris - had been taken from the Sainsbury's car park in Rugby Road.

    Leicestershire Police said there was no sign of forced entry to the car.

    Both dogs have been microchipped.

    A new fleet of trains is to come into service on the East Coast Main Line - which includes stops in Newark and Retford - from May.

    Operator London North Eastern Railway (LNER) said the Hitachi-built Azuma trains were a diesel-electric hybrid that offered a smoother, quieter journey with extra leg room.

    Eduardo Macia, Leicester City's head of recruitment, will leave his role tomorrow, the club has announced, external.

    Macia joined the club in September 2016 and during his tenure, the club has brought in talents such as Ricardo Pereira, Youri Tielemans and James Maddison.

    In a statement, the club said: "His [Macia] knowledge and experience in both domestic and international markets have been significant assets for the club, aiding the development of a young squad now rich with international talent.

    The site of a house and shop destroyed in an explosion which killed five people has been sold at auction.

    The blast ripped through the store and flat above on Hinckley Road, Leicester, on 25 February last year.

    Auctioneers Shonki Brothers described the cleared site, which was sold to an anonymous buyer for £92,000, as "ideal for development".

    Three men were jailed for life for murder having blown up the Polish supermarket in a bid to claim a £300,000 insurance payout.

    A country road between Sileby and Barrow upon Soar remains closed due to flooding.

    Vets were given a surprise when they found a dog had swallowed a poo emoji.

    Lhasa Aspo Teddy was taken to Leicester Pet Hospital after his owner, Kerry Worth, from New Parks, Leicester, became worried he had stopped eating and was vomiting.

    Initial tests found nothing wrong with the pooch but after carrying out exploratory surgery they uncovered the soft toy stuck in his small intestine.

    Senior vet Elly Brocklebank said: "You think you've seen it all, but this really was a new one for us."

    Mother-of-three Kerry said the toy was a keyring attachment belonging to her 13-year-old daughter Tyla.

    Teddy has since made a full recovery.
