    Former snooker player, sports promoter and football chairman Mike Watterson has died aged 76.

    Mr Watterson, best known for stints at Derby County and Chesterfield football clubs in the 1980s, died on Friday at Chesterfield Royal Hospital after suffering with a lung infection.

    In a statement, the family said: "It is with the deepest sense of sorrow and loss that the Watterson family can confirm the death of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Mike.

    "Mike was admitted to Chesterfield Royal Hospital in early February suffering from a lung infection but, despite the best efforts of the doctors, he passed away on the evening of Friday 8 March."

    A critically endangered eastern black rhino, arrived at her new home in Twycross Zoo yesterday afternoon.

    Nandi, 19, who weighs a tonne, is one of only about 5,000 of her species.

    Zoo staff hope this will showcase their work and show the public why it's important to save species.

    An eight-part documentary about the disappearance of Leicestershire girl Madeleine McCann is to launch on Netflix tomorrow.

    The three-year-old, from Rothley, vanished while on holiday with her family in Portugal in 2007.

    Netflix said the series, named The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann, will feature interviews with more than 40 contributors, archival news footage and reenactments.

    The programme is directed by Chris Smith, whose recent documentary on the disastrous Fyre Festival was a major hit for the platform.

    Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, have spoken out against the programme, saying it could potentially hinder the ongoing search for their daughter.

    "Obviously their goalkeeper had a good game and the woodwork got in the way, but a game like that we should really win two or three-nil."

    It was another dramatic night in the House of Commons last night as MPs voted to reject a no-deal Brexit under any circumstances.

    East Midlands MPs voting in favour of ruling it out included Dennis Skinner, Liz Kendall, Anna Soubry, Ruth George, Chris Williamson, Margaret Beckett, Keith Vaz, Chris Leslie, Lilian Greenwood and Ken Clarke.

    A survey of bus passengers has found that nine out of ten in the East Midlands are satisfied with the service.

    An independent watchdog discovered that passengers on Trent Barton buses were the most satisfied overall.

    Transport Focus said nearly half the people surveyed said the bus was the only real means of transport available to them and the biggest hurdle facing bus companies everywhere was congestion.
