As well as the flooding on King Street, the burst water main has caused disruption to water supplies in the city.
A Severn Trent spokesperson said: "We’re aware of a burst on one of our larger pipes affecting supply to homes and businesses in Derby city centre this morning.
"We have teams heading there now to assess the damage and we’ll keep people updated via our website."

The firm was unable to tell us how many homes and business properties were affected but BBC Radio Derby has been told of two schools in Littleover that have closed due to water supply disruption - Carlyle Infant and Nursery School and Ivy House School.
