    A woman whose Long Eaton home is due to be bought and demolished by HS2 says she's "flabbergasted" after the company took £50,000 off the amount it was willing to pay for it.

    Diane Scott said she had negotiated a fee of £290,000 for the 300-year-old New Tythe Street property with HS2 in November but the offer was reduced to £240,000 after being reviewed by the company.

    She said HS2 had offered no explanation for its revised offer.

    Ms Scott said: "I feel absolutely devastated and I'm going to fight it. It's totally unfair and unjust. The property was valued by three independent estate agents prior to this at £325,000."

    HS2 said: "Every situation is unique and there will often be different opinions about the value of a property.

    "We have a responsibility to establish a price that is fair both for homeowners and the taxpayer."

    The company has agreed to carry out a further survey on the property tomorrow.

    Ram-raiders ploughed a 4x4 into the front of a Leicestershire shop - but still failed to get in, external.

    Police said the vehicle was driven at the convenience store in Tournament Road, Glenfield, at about 01:15, damaging the brickwork and shutter but failing to penetrate the shop itself.

    Witnesses reported seeing a dark-coloured Mercedes at the scene and a number of people wearing dark clothing.

    Both vehicles left in the direction of Tatlow Road. No arrests have been made.

    A motorcyclist needed hospital treatment after being involved in a hit-and-run crash with a car that had just been bought, external.

    Police said the 55-year-old rider was injured when his Yamaha XT and a Skoda Fabia collided at the Dalehead junction in Axe Edge Moor near Buxton on Saturday evening.

    The silver car - which had the registration MD04 VVK - had reportedly been sold at Buxton Raceway earlier that day and failed to stop at the scene of the crash.

    It is now thought to be in the Stockport area and police have asked for the public's help in finding the owner.

    The Sheepbridge slip road on the A61 remains closed while fire officers investigate a gas leak.

    The suspected leak in Chesterfield has resulted in a 200m cordon and has also caused closures on Sheepbridge Lane, Foxwood Road, the B6057, Broombank Road and Broombank Park.

    Several roads have been closed due to a suspected gas leak in Chesterfield.

    Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service tweeted that a 200m exclusion zone is in place just off the A61 exit road at Sheepbridge.

    Julia Debenham has been named as the new assistant chief constable in charge of crime and operations, external by Leicestershire Police.

    The force said Mrs Debenham, currently a chief superintendent, was appointed yesterday following a nationally advertised selection process.

    She has been with the force for 26 years and last year played a major role in the investigation into an explosion at a shop in Leicester that killed five people.

    An inquest into the death of Nottingham motorcyclist Daniel Hegarty in November 2017 has heard he died “as a result of the most minute error”.

    Mr Hegarty, 31, was killed in a crash during the Macau Grand Prix in China after he came off his bike on a sharp bend.

    The Nottingham coroner has today concluded it was an accidental death.

    Paralympic swimming champion Ollie Hynd has described the past 14 months as "the worst of his life".

    The 24-year-old, from Mansfield, came close to quitting the sport after being controversially reclassified last year.

    Hynd has the degenerative muscular condition neuromuscular myopathy and had been competing in the S8 class since 2011. But the International Paralympic Committee moved him to the S9 category competing against less-impaired rivals, he said.

    A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after police raids at two homes in Leicester this morning.

    Leicestershire Police said the operation, in Aikman Avenue and Goldfinch Avenue, was connected to an attack in the city on Sunday.

    A walker has died after falling from Kinder Downfall.

    Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) says that she fell 50ft from the waterfall at about 17:00 on Monday.

    Another walker, who tried to climb down to reach them, got stuck when coming back up and was rescued by a team from Edale Cross.

    The coast guard and air ambulance were also called to Kinder Scout to assist.

    Neale Pinkerton, KMRT team leader, said: "The team would like to send their condolences to the family of the deceased walker at this tragic time."

    According to Derbyshire Police, the deceased walker was a 29-year-old woman.

    Police are appealing for information after a man exposed himself to a woman near a children's park.

    She was walking past the play area in Shipley Park, Heanor, between 17:45 and 18:45 on 29 March when the man sexually exposed himself to her.

    He is described as in his late 20s, 5ft 8in with brown hair and was believed to be wearing brown joggers and a dark hooded jacket.

    People who have bought homes on a new housing estate in Derby have been told they will not be able to move in for another year.

    When developer Kier was given permission by the city council in 2014 to build 580 homes at Manor Kingsway it was on condition it carried out upgrade work on the busy Kingsway Island off the A38 to deal with the extra traffic.

    However, that work has yet to take place and Kier has reached the maximum number of homes it can allow to be lived in before it is completed.

    A number of buyers told BBC Radio Derby they've been warned they will not be able to move in until May 2020.

    The list includes Nottingham Community Housing Assocation, which had been due to take ownership of eight homes this month.

    Kier said it "takes its responsibility to customers and partners very seriously" and is "working closely with Highways England and Homes England to quickly establish a solution for this issue and continue to communicate with residents throughout this process".

    An electrical fault caused a roof fire at a house in Chesterfield on Monday evening.

    Five crews were called just before 18:00, and the fire was extinguished by 21:45.

    The house was unoccupied at the time and nobody was injured.

    Firefighters using a ladder platform cut away part of the roof to help crews tackle the fire.

    Some residents in a Nottinghamshire village say they're concerned about antisocial behaviour and traffic problems when thousands of gypsies and travellers attend a nearby horse fair this weekend.

    The event is due to take place on private land opposite the Mornington Crescent housing estate in Nuthall after relocating from its usual spot in Warwickshire.

    One resident told BBC Radio Nottingham he'd taken time off work so he could guard his home while the event is on.

    Broxtowe Borough Council says as the fair is on private land, it has limited powers to stop it. Nottinghamshire Police says it will have extra officers on patrol in the area.

    Mick Davidson, who has organised advertising for the event, said there was no reason for residents to worry and much of their fear was "based on speculation".
