    Kevin Stanley

The community charity, which has been open for about 40 years, launched an urgent appeal to raise £30,000 - but has so far collected around £120,000.

    Ryan Ashby

Ryan Ashby, the marketing and events co-ordinator, said: "We honestly weren't sure what kind of response we were going to get but raising the amount we have is just fantastic.

"We work with about 50 schools in the Nottingham area alone and 130 placements at the farm itself for people who might not otherwise get those opportunities."

Mr Ashby said the money raised, combined with a cost-cutting programme, had secured the farm's immediate future but with grants and funding harder to come by, further appeals would be needed long-term.
