    A man has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a woman in Loughborough over the weekend.

    Police said the 22-year-old grabbed the victim in Trinity Street on Saturday evening.

    He attacked the woman who then shouted for help and he ran off.

    He was found by officers patrolling the area on Sunday in response to the reported assault.

    Following his arrest, he denied the offence but pleaded guilty at Leicester Crown Court when he appeared yesterday.

    He is due to be sentenced at the same court on 18 December.

    Two men have been arrested on suspicion of burglary after a member of the public spotted a group of men throwing cannabis into a vehicle, police said.

    Nottinghamshire Police were called to Cinderhill Road, Cinderhill, at about 01:10 this morning.

    The force said the vehicle left scene but was located by officers. The men then abandoned the van.

    The pair, 29 and 26, were detained after a pursuit on foot, police added.

    Officers also confirmed cannabis was being grown in the property with electricity being bypassed.

    A police dog who made national headlines after being stabbed by a burglar is to retire from duty.

    PD Axle, who is eight-and-a-half years old, needed lifesaving surgery due to the attack in July 2018 but made a full recovery and returned to duty.

    In a tribute, Derbyshire Police said PD Axle's other achievements included tracking down an on-the-run murderer, finding a lost wedding ring and biting a visiting police officer on the bottom.

    A woman is fighting for her life after a car hit two pedestrians in Leicester.

    Leicestershire Police said the woman was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre with life-threatening injuries after the crash at the junction of Evington Valley Road and Chesterfield Road at about 06:50.

    Another woman is recovering at the Leicester Royal Infirmary with non life-threatening injuries.

    No arrests have been made and all roads have reopened.

    Jack Chambers, 26, from Swanwick, Derbyshire, used Your Questions Answered to find out how our political parties plan to fund mental health services.

    The Liberal Democrats are pledging to spend £11bn, external on mental health services over the next Parliament.

    The party said: "By putting a penny in the pound on income tax and ringfencing £11bn in funding for mental health, the Liberal Democrats will provide real parity between mental and physical health care."

    It will also invest in mental health services buildings "to bring them into the 21st century".

    The Conservative Party is also making a comparison between mental and physical health.

    Its manifesto, external says: "We will treat mental health with the same urgency as physical health.

    "We will legislate so that patients suffering from mental health conditions, including anxiety or depression, have greater control over their treatment and receive the dignity and respect they deserve."

    Last month the Conservatives announced community mental health services for adults would get an extra £975m every year, external - money from the £2.3bn it claims it will spend on mental health services by 2023-24.

    The Labour Party manifesto , externalstates it will spend an additional £1.6bn a year on NHS mental health services.

    It also wants to invest £2bn in mental health hospital facilities, saying: "People with mental health problems face hospital stays in old, dormitory-style hospital wards, while less than one in four A&E departments have the facilities to deal with people experiencing a mental health crisis."

    The Green Party hasn't said exactly how much it will spend on mental health but its 2019 manifesto says it plans to increase funding for the NHS by at least £6bn per year each year, until 2030.

    It says there will be "focus funding" for mental health care to "truly put it on an equal footing with physical health care".

    The party manifesto, external also says it will ensure that everyone who needs it can access evidence-based mental health therapies within 28 days.

    It does however say it would it will "develop a National Health Service fit for the 21st Century".

    It will invest in better management, increasing the number of medical staff and cutting waste.

    A staff member at Carrington Stores on Hucknall Road was threatened with a knife during a robbery on Sunday.

    Two people entered the shop with their faces covered at about 16:45 and stole cash, cigarettes and alcohol.

    The handful of activists held up banners on a pedestrian crossing on the A60 near Trent Bridge.

    Four people were taken to hospital after a five-car crash on the M1 near East Midlands Airport last night.

    The northbound carriageway between junctions 24 and 25 was closed last night after the crash at 16:15, but police said there were no reports of "any major injuries".

    Firefighters from Castle Donington also attended the scene, and said: "We cut free a number of people from their vehicles who were taken to hospital."

    East Midlands Ambulance Service said the casualties were taken to the Queen's Medical Centre.

    He said society owes a "moral debt" to them after they lost out on years of state pension payments when their retirement age was raised.

    He argues the women were misled and have lost a lot of money.

    The Conservative Party has previously argued it has already committed £1bn to mitigate the impact of the changes and said no one would see their pension date move by more than 18 months.

    The Lib Dem party has said it will ensure that women born in the 1950s will be "properly compensated" for the change to state pension age, in line with the recommendations of the parliamentary ombudsman.

    Mr Corbyn next visited Ashfield - a marginal seat in Nottinghamshire which Labour hung on to at the last election.

    He went to a construction centre at a college where he announced new rent controls and vowed to "put bad landlords out of business" if it wins power.

    He also met with apprentices in bricklaying, carpentry and painting and decorating and even had a go himself.

    The Tories have also set out plans to help tenants - including scrapping "no fault" evictions and "lifetime deposits".

    The Liberal Democrats say they will introduce longer-term tenancies and bring in controls on annual rent increases, linked to inflation.

    Two men who rode on bikes threatening victims with knives have been jailed after admitting their parts in robberies across Nottingham.

    Thomas Pickering (right), 21, of Norton Street, Nottingham, pleaded guilty to two charges of robbery and two charges of possession of a bladed article at a hearing in October.

    He was jailed for four years and nine months at Nottingham Crown Court earlier.

    Joshua Barker, 22, of Kyle View, Nottingham, pleaded guilty to robbery, attempted robbery and two charges of possession of a bladed article. He was sentenced to five years and 10 months in prison.

    At about 22:15 on 4 August, Pickering and another man, who were both on mountain bikes, robbed a man of his phone and money in Bulwell, Nottinghamshire Police said.

    Earlier that night, just before 20:30, Pickering and Barker tried to rob another man who was walking along Sherbrook Road in the Daybrook area of the city.

    Barker pointed a knife towards his stomach and demanded cash. The victim ran off and called the police.

    The following day another man reported he had been robbed of his phone at knifepoint in Vernon Park, Basford.

    The victim was not hurt but was left shaken after Pickering and Barker rode off.

    Exploratory tests for shale gas have been undertaken at two sites in Bassetlaw, external - Tinker Lane, near Barnby Moor, and Springs Road in Misson Springs.

    Liberal Democrat candidate for Bassetlaw, Helen Tamblyn-Saville, said she is "strongly opposed to fracking" in Nottinghamshire and everywhere else.

    She said: "It contributes to both water and air pollution and, instead, we should be focusing on building renewable energy solutions, such as increasing the construction of off-shore wind turbines and restore subsidies for solar power."

    The Conservative Party office for Brendan Clarke-Smith said that he too is opposed to fracking.

    Keir Morrison, the Labour Party candidate, said he would like to "ban fracking entirely".

    He said: "There are better ways and means of creating energy and prosperity than fossil fuel extraction.

    "We don't need to be subjecting the public to earthquakes and pollution when there is a vast wealth of clean, green technology available."

    And Brexit Party candidate, Debbie Soloman, makes it a full-house for opposition to fracking.

    She said the disruption it causes to local people and their environment outweighs any economic benefits.

    "If the UK is to have any hope of meeting carbon neutral commitments, we should be further developing our renewable energy resources and reducing our reliance on fossil fuels," she said.

    A man has died after falling from a footbridge on to a dual carriageway before being hit by a vehicle, police have said.

    Derbyshire Police were called to reports a man had fallen from the footbridge across the A38 Queensway, north of Markeaton Island roundabout, at about 20:20 yesterday.

    The force said while he was in the road, he was hit by a vehicle.

    There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances around the death and the man's family has been informed.

    At the scene, parts of a 2010, or newer, Ford vehicle was found.

    Detectives have appealed to trace the driver of the car to help them with their inquiries.

    They have also appealed to drivers with dashcam footage, who may have captured the fatal crash, to contact them.

    The road was closed for several hours and reopened this morning.
