Nearly 20 chickens had their heads cut off at an allotment in Nottinghamshire at the weekend.
Decapitated heads of 18 birds were reportedly found at plots in Collyer Road, Calverton, on Sunday morning.
A woman, who owned some of the chickens, told the BBC the bodies and eggs had been removed.
The woman, who didn't want to be named, said: "It's awful. One of the older ladies lost 11 chickens in the incident and is devastated."
Nottinghamshire Police said it was investigating reports of a shed being broken into at the allotment and a number of chickens being killed between 14:30 on Saturday and 08:20 on Sunday.
