    A 92-year-old woman whose garden was damaged during an alleged break-in has received a surprise gift.

    Police said Marlies Beresfour was left "shocked and upset" when pots, plants and a gate were broken at her Derby home earlier this month.

    Staff at a nearby garden centre heard about the incident on social media and donated new plants and pots.

    Sgt Neil Hopwell said: "Mrs Beresfour clearly enjoys spending time in her garden, which is even more important to her during this time of lockdown.

    "Garden centre staff contacted us to offer their help and we were pleased to be able to make the delivery."

    A church which has been hosting a Van Gogh exhibition has been targeted in a suspected arson attack.

    Emergency crews were called to All Saints Church in Highcross Street, Leicester, just before 01:30 on Saturday.

    The flames were found to have damaged an external door and some smoke got into the building.

    Police confirmed they were treating the fire as deliberate, adding inquiries are ongoing.

    Organisers of the exhibition, which uses recreations of Van Gogh's work and is currently closed, have been approached for comment.

    People taking their daily exercise through Attenborough Nature Reserve have been asked to report any concerns after a fire broke out.

    The fire was put out before it caused any damage to the delta hide during Friday afternoon, reserve managers said.

    It is unclear how the blaze started and as staff are not able to be there as often due to the coronavirus outbreak, they want the public to be their "eyes and ears".

    Firefighters were called to a bench on fire at Thornton Reservoir in Leicestershire yesterday, which they said was caused by a "carelessly discarded BBQ".

    Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said the "budding chef" had flouted the government's lockdown rules.

    The site, which is owned by Severn Trent Water, has been closed to the public during the lockdown.

    Police said they had received "many reports" on Sunday of people being there.

    Download Festival, which was due to take place at Donington Park, is going online instead after being cancelled because of the coronavirus outbreak.

    The event, which was going to be held between 12 and 14 June, is one of the UK's biggest festivals.

    However, this year it will take the form of interviews and videos being broadcast across their social media channels.

    Organiser Andy Copping said: "Obviously losing the festival was tough for us due to Covid-19.

    "I decided we should try and come up with a TV programme which will be put up on YouTube.

    "I wanted it to be a celebration of Download... a small thing to offer fans that will go out globally."

    He added the mixture of live footage from previous festivals, as well as live interviews and "quirky things", will make "essential viewing".

    The three programmes will be broadcast on the weekend that Download was due to be held.

    A 19-year-old man has been arrested and bailed following a stabbing in an alleyway in a Leicestershire village.

    It happened near Woodfield Road at about 16:45 on Saturday and the suspect, who had left the scene, was later arrested in Brookfield Road "in connection with the incident".

    The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged.

    Police say inquiries are ongoing and appealed to the public for information.

    Prisoners have reportedly been given the task of making personal protective equipment (PPE) for hospital workers in the face of the coronavirus crisis.

    Inmates at HMP Whatton in Nottinghamshire and seven jails around the country will start making scrubs and face visors as a way of saving the NHS money in light of surging prices.

    According to The Daily Telegraph, external, Justice Secretary Robert Buckland said the items will cost only around one third of current market rates, with scrubs costing about £5 a set, compared with their £15 price tag on the open market.
