    The BBC Weather team has said this evening's rush hour is likely to be difficult, with persistent rain creating surface water and spray.

    Storm Henk, which will track across mid-Wales through to Lincolnshire, is likely to give way to more settled - but chillier - weather later in the week, the team added.

    The bus network in Newark is also affected.

    Bus operator Stagecoach said due to flooding at Kelham Bridge, the 28 and 29 will not serve Newark Rugby Club.

    Newark and Sherwood District Council says it is working "together with multiple local agencies to help with flood preparations".

    The authority also urged people to avoid "swollen rivers and flood water".

    Earlier, the council reported a road closure, external on the A617, heading towards Kelham from the A46 roundabout.

    In Leicestershire, the junction of Slash Lane and Mountsorrel Lane near Sileby is one of the many areas in the county affected by flooding.

    Countesthorpe Road in South Wigston has been closed and flood water is partially blocking Braunstone Lane East in Aylestone.

    On Facebook, the Leicestershire Flood & Adverse Weather updates team says 15 flood alerts or warnings are in place across Leicestershire and Rutland's major rivers and water courses, with more than 75 flood incidents reported.

    The county council has urged drivers to "never travel through flood water" and to take care when travelling.

    Flood warnings are being put in place around the region as rain continues to cause river levels to rise.

    More than 20 are now in force, with the Environment Agency warning of flooding in the next 24 hours at locations in Nottinghamshire, including on the Trent at Newark, Holme Pierrepont and the Queens Drive Park and Ride, and the River Maun at Edwinstowe and Ollerton and the Cocker Beck at Lowdham.

    In Leicestershire, warnings are in place at areas including Witherley and Atherstone and Proctor's Pleasure Park near Barrow upon Soar.

    Derbyshire is also affected, with warnings along the River Derwent at Church Wilne and Wilne Lane, at Darley Abbey and Folly Road at Darley Dale and also on the River Amber at Ambergate.

    The warnings come as Storm Henk batters parts of the UK.

    The Met Office has also issued an amber wind warning for travel disruption, roof damage and potential power cuts across southern England, the Midlands, East Anglia and Wales.

    Heavy rain is also expected across most of England and Wales.

    Heavy rain and weather conditions have caused public transport issues in the region, with the railway between Derby and Long Eaton flooded.

    In Nottingham, the city council has shut Queens Drive Park and Ride until further notice due to flooding.

    It will also be closed tomorrow, the authority says, so people have been urged to find an alternative.

    "We will continue to monitor the conditions and will update if this changes," a council spokesperson added.
