    The brother of Didcot murder victim Philip Howard has said that he still does no understand why the three victims were killed.

    A family liaison officer, speaking on behalf of Andrew Howard, said: "We truly do not know why he was taken from us, just how. I just hope Philip, Derrin and Jan are now at peace."

    Speaking after an inquest that concluded that Janet's son Jed Allen was responsible for the killings, a police family liaison officer, speaking on the family's behalf, said:  "There are no words that can describe the terrible impact this dreadful event has had on our family.

    "The sense of overwhelming grief and loss, for people who were loved so much, is completely unimaginable."

    We've been following a row between David Cameron and Oxfordshire County Council leader Ian Hudspeth over the council's spending and proposed budget cuts.

    The council has set out its argument that overall funding has gone down, rather than an increase in spending as the prime minister argued.

    The jury at the trial of a group of people accused of slavery and forced labour offences in Oxford has gone out to consider its verdict.

    Timothy Joyce Senior, Christopher Joyce, Mary Joyce and Helen Collins, all of Redbridge Hollow, Old Abingdon Road, deny a total of 23 counts at Oxford Crown Court.

    The arrests were made as part of Thames Valley Police's Operation Rague, which relates to suspected human exploitation and slavery.

    The coroner at Jed Allen's inquest has concluded that he committed suicide at about 19:30 on 23 May.

    He had earlier stabbed to death his mother, half sister and the partner of his mother in Didcot.

    Allen's body was found two days later in woodland in Oxford.

    A toxicology report found there was no drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of his death.

    "One might suspect Jed Allen was not of sound mind, that would seem to be the case. But saying that, there were no signs of mental health difficulties leading up to the time when the deaths occurred."

    Coroner Darren Salter said "we do not know what was in Jed Allen's mind" as he recorded a verdict that Janet Jordon, Derrin Jordon and Philip Howard were unlawfully killed.

    Mr Salter said the case remains "inexplicable".

    The police officer investigating the case, who described Allen as "anti-drugs", said it was only "speculation" the argument that led to the murders could have been caused by Philip Howard starting to use heroin.
