  1. Storm Barney: Resident describes moment tree almost fell on his housepublished at 10:24

    Phil Keable lives in Mendip Heights in Didcot, where a 60ft-high tree fell during last night's storm, damaging two houses and a motorbike. He spoke to BBC Radio Oxford.

    "I was watching TV and heard this massive crack, and quickly grabbed the dog and ran into the kitchen," he says.

    "It felt like something was just about to swipe through the living room. I ran out the door afterwards and there was basically a tree in the doorway."

    The B480 in Chiselhampton is closed between the Coach and Horses junction and Southend junction because of an accident.

    There's also queuing traffic on the A40 in both directions in Oxford at the Cutteslowe roundabout.

    Traffic is also very slow on Middleton Road in Banbury between the Ermont Way junction and the Bridge Street junction.

    The man behind a Witney business which has gone into liquidation amid claims several businesses are owed more than £100,000 tells BBC Radio Oxford he is unable to comment.

    Chris Clinkard who runs Abacus Events Ltd says he can't comment because the legal liquidation process had started. 

    The Official Receiver will now investigate.

    On the BBC Radio Oxford Facebook page, external, Jon Labato, from Thame, says it was "the closest I've been to being blown off my feet".

    While Andrew Coles from Witney says: "Two fence panels down and my oak sapling, which I've been growing since 2007, has been damaged."

    More than 2,000 homes were left without power in Oxfordshire after Storm Barney hit the county last night.

    The power cut affected 1,300 properties in Fyfield, near Burford, 700 in Witney, and 220 in Chipping Norton.  

    Power was restored at about 07:00 today, Scottish and Southern Electric Power Distribution says.

    An events company in Witney has gone into liquidation amid claims several people and businesses are owed more than £100,000.

    West Oxfordshire District Council set up a petition, supported by 12 other parties, for Abacus Events Ltd to be wound up after unpaid business rates totalling £16,000. 

  9. Latest travel: Congestion on the A34, A41 and A420published at 08:20

    There's heavy congestion on the A34 northbound at the Milton Interchange, and queuing traffic at the Kidlington junction due to an earlier broken-down vehicle.

    There are also delays on the A41 in Blackthorn at Lower End junction due to roadworks.

    Plus, the A420 eastbound at Cumnor, between the B4017 Abingdon Road junction and the Botley interchange, has been hit by heavier than normal traffic.

  10. Tree hits two Didcot homes after Storm Barney hits Oxfordshirepublished at 08:17

    A 60ft-high tree has damaged two houses, a car and a motorbike in Didcot after it was blown over when Storm Barney breezed into town.

    One person trapped inside one of the houses was rescued, Paul Webster from the fire service says. 

    He adds: "This must have been a really scary event for the occupiers."
