  6. Wolvercote shop 'losing £250 a day because of rail works'published at 17:15

    A shop owner in Oxford is threatening to take legal action against Network Rail because her business is being affected by the works taking place on a nearby railway bridge.

    Annie Kotak runs the First Turn stores in Wolvercote and says she is losing about £250 a day.

    She says: "We're into the Christmas rush and we've hardly got queues, usually we've always got queues, but no-one wants to come in."

  9. Oxford Utd dismiss 'chatter' about Roofepublished at 16:37

    Oxford United have received no formal approach for Kemar Roofe, according to chief executive Mark Ashton.

    The 22-year-old midfielder, who has been linked with Newcastle United, has scored 11 goals this term, including the winner at Dagenham on Saturday.

    "There's lots of chatter in the background from agents, but that's what the industry is like. We want to keep this squad together and our key focus is to get us out of this division," Ashton told BBC Radio Oxford.

  11. Flats 'should have been first' for food recyclingpublished at 16:11

    The 5,000 Oxford flats that are being offered food recycling for the first time should have been offered it earlier, the councillor responsible says.

    John Tanner told us: "If we'd thought about it sensibly we'd have done the flats first, because by definition they don't have anywhere to compost their food, whereas people who live in houses very often do. But we've got round to it at last."

  15. Oxford Brookes rowers stimulants 'not performance enhancing'published at 15:04

    The banned substances taken by two Oxford Brookes rowers which resulted in a two-year ban for both men were not performance-enhancing drugs, British Rowing says, external.

    Sybren Hoogland, 21, and Timothy Grant, 22, tested positive for banned substances at the Ghent International Regatta on 9 May.

    British Rowing chief executive officer Andy Parkinson says: “British Rowing takes a very clear stance on anti-doping and we are incredibly disappointed with both cases.

    “While we accept that both rowers did not take performance-enhancing substances, this is a wake-up call for all aspiring rowers in the UK."

  16. Child arrests fall 60% in four yearspublished at 14:52

    The number of children arrested by Thames Valley Police has fallen by 60% in the past four years.

    Data obtained by the Howard League for Penal Reform, external finds the number of arrests fell to just over 3,200 last year, compared to more than 8,000 in 2010.

    Andrew Nelson, the director of campaigns at the Howard League, says this has also led to a drop in  the number of children in prisons.
