    Scottish rockers Primal Scream have been revealed as the Sunday night headliners for the new Oxford festival next year.

  2. Oxford Brookes 'proud of art school roots'published at 14:03

    Oxford Brookes spent £552,000 on art in the five years to 2015, the fourth highest amount in the country.

    The total included £158,000 for The Rain Pavilion (pictured) which was designed by students of the university.

    A spokesperson said the institution began life as a School of Art 150 years ago and it was "proud of these roots".

  3. Body found at Iffley Lock thought to be missing manpublished at 13:41

    Police believe a body they found in the water at Iffley Lock, external this morning could be that of missing 54-year-old Francis Rothnie.

    He was last seen at about 00:45 on Sunday 15 November.

    His next of kin have been informed.

    An Oxford centre for people with HIV says it's facing possible closure because of council cuts.

    The Terrence Higgins Trust runs day services for people who are HIV positive and works to prevent the virus spreading, but it's currently in line to see its funding cut by Oxfordshire County Council.

  9. Woman hit by a train at Didcot diespublished at 12:18

    A woman hit by a train near Didcot Parkway station died at the scene, British Transport Police, external (BTP) say.

    They received a report just after 11:05 of a woman being struck by a freight train near the station.

    There are delays of up to an hour for rail services via Didcot Parkway, affecting services from Oxford, Swindon and Reading to London Paddington.

    She is 5' 4" and was reported as being seen at Tesco on Abingdon Road at 07:45.

  13. Frideswide Square traffic lights removed earlypublished at 11:19

    Temporary traffic lights that were causing delays on  Botley Road at Frideswide Square have been removed ahead of schedule, the county council says, external.

    There are still traffic management arrangements in the area though, and Oxford Bus Company says on Twitter, external the work is affecting its services in the city centre.
