  5. Men armed with crossbows in Faringdon fightpublished at 17:32

    Four men have been arrested after a fight in Faringdon two weeks ago in which two men were armed with crossbows, external.

    A group of men forced their way into a property in Greengates at 06:00 where two men were inside and the fight spilled out onto the street.

    Police want to reassure the public that they don't believe it was a random attack, and want to speak to anyone who saw it happen.

  6. Magdalen College appoints first female headpublished at 17:16

    Oxford's Magdalen College School, one of the country's leading independent schools, has appointed the first female head teacher, external in its 535-year history.

    Helen Pike will succeed Dr Tim Hands as master of the school in September next year.

    Ms Pike studied modern history at Christ Church, Oxford and her partner is Professor George Garnett, the senior proctor at Oxford University.

  8. Scrap metal dealer fined £2,500published at 17:01

    A scrap metal dealer operating in the Vale of White Horsehas been fined £2,500, external after failing to produce records of the metal he was transporting.

    Leonard Stefan, 22, from Haybarns Road in Birmingham was stopped by police in Abingdon back in June.

    He was sentenced in his absence after failing to show up to two court hearings and has also been told to pay nearly £1,000 in costs.

  9. Tablets join pills in treatment plan for hospital patientspublished at 16:55

    Bedside charts on hospital beds are being replaced with 'early warning' tablet computers to help identify at risk patients, external at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

    The Churchill, Nuffield and Horton hospitals have already introduced the system that immediately displays any deterioration in the patient's condition when a nurse inputs vital signs.

    The system also allows for the data to be shared on different devices throughout the hospital.

  10. Chinook teams settling in to RAF Bensonpublished at 16:38

    RAF Benson in Oxfordshire has now acquired a new helicopter, becoming the central training base for Chinook pilots.

    Some 150 personnel have moved here from Hampshire, and for the first time we have been given access behind the scenes to meet the new residents.

  11. Electrical fault starts Witney house firepublished at 16:19

    A "serious" fire at a house Witney was caused by a fault involving a plug and extension lead.

    Two fire engines from Witney and one from Rewley Road fire station were at the blaze, which left the whole home damaged by smoke.

  12. MEP finds nitrogen dioxide levels in Oxford 'double legal limit'published at 16:09

    Clean air campaigners, including Oxfordshire MEP Catherine Bearder, found nitrogen dioxide levels twice the legal limit in Oxford today.

    According to Oxford City Council figures, external the city had levels 30% above the limit in 2014, and is not expected to meet the target until 2020.
