    Ironbridge Power Station will generate its last electricity, early this afternoon. 

    The man who first connected it to the National Grid, in 1969, has been invited back to switch it off at 14:30.

    A standards committee has ruled Shropshire Council leader Keith Barrow broke rules about the way the authority does business.

    Concerns were raised in the summer that the Conservative leader may have failed to comply with the council's code of conduct and today a panel of three agreed he had.  

    They found Mr Barrow had failed to comply with the authority's code of conduct when he didn't declare his personal and business relationship with a director of the firm, which was appointed accountant and auditor of the council's private company IP&E.

    An investigation into the conduct of the Shropshire Council leader Keith Barrow has found he failed to comply with the authority's code of conduct. 

    Mr Barrow has apologised for failing to formally declare an interest when making a decision at the council's company I,P&E. 

    He has resigned as Director of I,P&E and will be given training to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  10. Power Station closure: E.ON boss thanks staffpublished at 11:23

    The E.ON chief executive has thanked everyone involved with the running of Ironbridge Power Station, following the announcement it will close today. 

    A small team will now begin the decommissioning phase, which is due to run until early 2017.

    AFC Telford have two new loan signings - Liam Slade and Sam Austin, both from Burton Albion. 

    Striker Nathan Modest has also joined, on non-contract terms from Hednesford.

    E.ON has announced Ironbridge Power Station will officially close at 14:30 today.

    The plant was first switched on by Mike Smith in 1969. Mike retired from his role at the power station in 1992, but will be back in Ironbridge today to press the button to mark its closure. 

    At full capacity, more than 400 people worked there, generating up to 1,000 mega-watts of electricity.

    It's been confirmed that Ironbridge Power Station will officially close at 14:30 today. 

    E.ON says the power station will cease commercial generation following 46 years of service.

    A massive new factory in Telford could create up to 1,000 jobs, according to the site owner. 

    Outline plans for the site, the biggest at the so-called T54 development at Nedge Hill, were approved this week.

    The Homes & Communities Agency says it's already in talks with a firm to buy the site, which is about the size of eight football pitches and would need 400 parking spaces. 

    The council's also insisting any work is accompanied by road improvements.
