Fears over plans to use fire service for medical emergency callspublished at 10:16 British Summer Time 22 September 2016
The West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) says it has concerns about the idea of using firefighters to respond to medical emergencies.
The West Midlands is one of the only areas in the country which doesn't run a co-responder scheme, where firefighters go out to medical emergencies if they can reach the patient faster.
Murray McGregor, from WMAS, says there's a risk the fire service would not be able to respond if they were dealing with a medical emergency.
