    Town flirted with relegation in their last campaign but managed to avoid the drop.

    EU referendum campaigners have clashed over immigration, the economy and a range of other issues at a special debate organised by BBC Midlands Today.

    A panel of politicians and business leaders took questions from an audience in Birmingham. 

    There were heated exchanges between Lord Digby Jones, from the Leave campaign, and Labour MP Tristram Hunt, for Remain.

    A drunken man slept off a heavy night's boozing in the middle of a Shropshire road - sparking a 999 call, external by a driver worried he had found a dead body.

  4. Shropshire names in birthday honourspublished at 08:49 British Summer Time 13 June 2016

    It was a big weekend for some people in Shropshire who were named in the Queen's Birthday Honours. 

    Among those named was 73-year-old Ruth Walmsley of Telford who founded a charity that helped a school in danger of closing in West Africa 

    She has been appointed an MBE.

    David Tudor, a churchwarden at St Chad's in Shrewsbury, will also be appointed an MBE. 

    Three other Shropshire volunteers and fundraisers have been awarded the British Empire Medal and the former Chief Constable of the West Mercia Force, David Shaw, has been honoured with the Queen's Policing Medal.
