  1. Review of hospital reorganisation proposals likely to take monthspublished at 12:18 Greenwich Mean Time 7 February 2017

Scrutiny of the controversial plans for a major reorganisation of Shropshire's hospitals is likely to take months and probably won't be complete until late spring, the NHS says.

The NHS Future Fit proposals included downgrading Telford's A&E department and creating one emergency centre for the county - in Shrewsbury.

This independent review was called after health commissioners failed to agree on the proposals last year and today the Future Fit team is meeting to agree how it will be carried out.

    Two A&Es

The health minister David Mowart told a commons debate on the issue last month that once the review was complete, he was expecting health commissioners to hold another vote, with the hope of getting a clear majority one way or the other.

  6. Suspicious car fires may have been deliberatepublished at 10:39 Greenwich Mean Time 7 February 2017

Arsonists may be to blame after three cars caught fire in two separate incidents, investigators say.

Just after 20:00 last night firefighters were called to put out a car which was ablaze in Dawley, partly damaging a nearby garage.

And then at midnight they had to extinguish two cars parked in roadside parking bays in Cherrington.

  7. Council apology over road closurepublished at 10:18 Greenwich Mean Time 7 February 2017

Shropshire Council has apologised to businesses after the daytime closure of a road at Prees Green cost them money - but a council chief said it had done all it can to reduce the impact.

The B5065, which runs through from the A41 to the A49, is shut between 09:30 and 16:00 for resurfacing works.

The council said some disruption was inevitable and that because "highway works ultimately benefit the whole community", businesses would not be compensated for their losses.

It also said that the needs of businesses had been taken into consideration with "businesses open as usual" signs and site supervisors on site to help with access.

    Quote Message

Shropshire Council has a statutory duty to maintain the highway network, and this section of the B5065 has been identified as requiring major maintenance now that the existing carriageway structure nears the end of its serviceable life."

On top of that, headteachers fear a new National Funding Formula - aimed at sharing out the schools budget more fairly - will in fact make things even worse for many of them.

I'll have more on this story on the Midlands Today on BBC One at 18:30.
