    Tomorrow marks the Chinese New Year, with almost one billion people expected to make a move to see it in with their loved ones around the world. 

    Links with China are proving increasingly important to the Sheffield economy, external.

    Dancers from the Wanlin Dance School are preparing a special cultural show at the City Hall on Tuesday as part of celebrations marking the start of the Year of the Rooster.

    The brother of a 19-year-old man who was shot in Harehills in Leeds yesterday and who later died will play for Leeds United this weekend, the club has confirmed.

    Leeds United head coach Garry Monk says Mallik Wilks will be on the pitch for United's Under 23s on Sunday.

    Raheem Wilks was shot in Harehills yesterday lunchtime and died later in hospital.

    A 49-year-old is under arrest on suspicion of murder.

    More details now on the delay to the re-opening of flood-hit Tadcaster Bridge, which was due to re-open on Tuesday.

    Freezing weather's being blamed for the delay in connecting the two sides of the town again for the first time since December 2015 when part of the bridge was washed away during severe flooding.

    Since then the town has been split in two with only a temporary footbridge allowing access from one side to the other.

    The bridge had originally been due to re-open today, but it was confirmed last week that the opening had to be put back. 

    North Yorkshire County Council says the re-opening will now take place in February.

  4. 'No suspicious circumstances' over Sheffield park body findpublished at 13:28 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2017

    There don't appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found at Bingham Park in Sheffield earlier today, police say.

    The man's body was pulled from a pond at the park this morning by police divers.

    The area around the dam above the Shepherd's Wheel has been cordoned off for some hours.

    Formal identification of the man has not yet taken place, according to South Yorkshire Police, external.

    A 44-year-old man from Halifax has been missing since the weekend. Have you seen him?

    Craig Alderson was last seen in the early hours of last Saturday morning in the Southowram area. 

    Police say they're "growing increasingly concerned" for Craig's welfare and that his disappearance is "very out of character".

    Barnsley forward Marley Watkins will be involved in tomorrow's game against Rotherham.

    That's despite handing in a transfer request, which has been declined. 

    The 26-year-old is understood to be attracting interest from Bristol City, Ipswich and Reading.

    Rotherham Council has responded to the criticism about a new heating system on the Fitzwilliam Estate in Swinton which residents say has proved much more expensive to run.

    People are unhappy that their bills have doubled or even trebled. 

    The council says it'll contact local residents today to say they will be bringing forward a planned review and is looking at the best way of allocating a pro-rata refund.

    A Conservative councillor forced to resign after he was caught on camera making sexual comments to a woman when she confronted him about fox hunting in North Yorkshire has rung her to apologise.

    Police are investigating an altercation between Charles Carter and Linda Hoggard at the Middleton Hunt.

    He's since resigned his position as a district councillor in Norfolk.

    The family of Raheem Wilks, the man named locally as the 19-year-old who was shot in Harehills in Leeds yesterday, has released a picture.

    Mr Wilks was shot yesterday lunchtime outside a barber's shop, he died later in hospital.

    A 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody.

    A man's body has been pulled from water at Bingham Park in Sheffield this morning.

    South Yorkshire police have had a big presence at Bingham Park with the area around the dam above the Shepherd's Wheel taped off while the body was recovered by a regional marine unit with two divers.

    The force is expected to make a statement later in the day.

    A body has been found at Bingham Park in Sheffield which has been the scene of police activity this morning. 

    A number of officers and emergency vehicles are at the site.

    The area is close to an historic building known as the Shepherd's Wheel. 

    There is a dam there and a regional police marine unit vehicle is on site along with an ambulance.

    One of the most run-down areas of York city centre is to be redeveloped.

    Councillors met last night to discuss the "Castle Gateway" which takes in Piccadilly, Coppergate and the Eye of York - which includes the area around Clifford's Tower.

    The plans include renovating derelict buildings, turning the castle car park into a public space, and improving the riverside.

    It's emerged that the man who died after being shot in Harehills yesterday, and who's understood to be 19-year-old Raheem Wilks, is the brother of Mallik Wilks, who plays for Leeds United's under-23s.

    The victim died in hospital after being treated for serious injuries.

    A 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

    It's being reported that police crime scene tape is cordoning-off an area of Bingham Park in Sheffield and there's currently a large police presence.

    South Yorkshire Police aren't commenting at the moment, but one resident has tweeted about seeing police divers at the pond in the area close to the Shepherd's Wheel.

    The path beside the pond has also been taped off.
