    Ipswich Town's, external home game against Leeds United has been confirmed for Saturday, 18 February after the West Yorkshire side's surprise FA  Cup exit at non-league Sutton.

    Sheffield City Region is set to splash some serious cash today.

    The region's leaders are meeting for the first time this year and are considering a list of projects to fund.

    The list includes:

    • £3m for Doncaster's new market scheme - with a further £1.5m wanted later
    • £3.5m for Sheffield's retail quarter development
    • £1.5m to redevelop Forge Island in Rotherham with a cinema, retail and housing
    • 3.5m for a new centre for higher level skills in Rotherham
    • £11m for a new transport scheme for South Yorkshire

    But it looks like Barnsley is not getting the £2m it wanted for the town centre leisure and retail scheme.

    A businessman from Scarborough is planning to open a café with a difference in the town.

    Details for the route of the Leeds Triathlon have been released today complete with changes after problems with the amateur route.

    Last year thousands took part in the event with some saying that the race was shambolic and even dangerous. Some competitors said they were left stranded for hours, unable to find their bags.

    This year the Brownlee brothers will be taking part again, and hoping to repeat their success from last year. It's due to happen on 11 June with both elite and the amateur competitors.

    It's hoped that 5,000 people will take part, and includes a swim in Waterloo Lake in Roundhay Park, a bike route that heads towards Headingley and a run towards the city centre.

    Many politicians have been speaking about the impact of his temporary ban on travellers from seven mainly Muslim countries, including the Conservative peer, Lady Warsi of Dewsbury, who spoke on BBC Radio 4's Today programme this morning.

    The costs of smoking to the social care system in our region is more than £150m per year according to new figures.

    This is money that's being spent in the Yorkshire and the Humber area to help people with smoking-related illnesses stay in their own home, according to campaigning charity ASH. 

    It says the problem is set to get worse, pointing out that some NHS commissioners, including the Vale of York CCG, have cut funding for GP prescriptions to patients seeking to stop smoking.

    A Methodist minister from Leeds has been arrested in Lancashire after allegedly trying to disarm warplanes bound for Saudi Arabia.

    The Rev Dan Woodhouse (pictured right), a Methodist minister in Leeds and Sam Walton, a Quaker, are accused of entering the BAE Systems site in Warton to disarm planes.

    Police said they were being held on suspicion of criminal damage.

    In a statement, Mr Woodhouse said stopping warplanes "would save lives".

    A reminder that if you're travelling out of York station, external this morning, your train may well be leaving a little later than scheduled.

    That's down to the knock-on effects of signal problems around Church Fenton.

    As you can see from this graphic, all of these trains should have departed by now, but unfortunately they have not!

    Over the last few weeks, we've talked a lot about Scarborough's historic Futurist theatre on BBC Radio York, whether it should be knocked down, or whether it should be saved.

    This morning, we're hearing from people who live close to the seafront building who are worried about what the decision to demolish it may mean for them. 

    They fear that if the cliffs behind the Futurist collapse, their homes could go as well.

    A petition that was started by a solicitor in Leeds to stop US President Donald Trump's UK state visit has gathered more than a million signatures.

    Numbers of signatories have been rising rapidly since a US clampdown on immigration came into effect over the weekend, causing anger worldwide.  

    PM Theresa May announced the visit during her recent US trip. 

    Downing Street has rejected calls for it to be cancelled as a "populist gesture".

    Labour's Jeremy Corbyn urged the PM to postpone the visit.

    Rotherham Council has admitted it was overcharging tenants on the Fitzwilliam Estate in Swinton for their heating and has promised a refund in the next 10 days.

    Last week BBC Radio Sheffield spoke to residents who had seen their bills double, in some cases treble, since the council upgraded the district heating system.

    That prompted the council to review the scheme and acknowledge they got it wrong.

    Natasha Howe is a working mum who started the petition to get costs reduced.

    Professor Sir Keith Burnett, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sheffield and co-founder of a group called We are International, external, has spoken out against President Trump's travel ban on people from seven mainly-Muslim countries.

    The statement, external acknowledges that there will be many who support the action by President Trump but says it is deeply counter-productive to the purposes of peace and freedom:

    South Yorkshire's Tata Steel workers, and those across the country, are voting today on whether to accept a new pension deal. 

    It's not as good as before which is causing concern for some union members in Stocksbridge, Brinsworth and Rotherham.

    Union leaders are trying to convince their members to vote for it, saying it could secure their future. 

    The current pension deal, provided by British Steel, is due to expire at the end March.

    The signalling problem that shut the line between Leeds and York earlier has now been sorted.

    However, all services running through Church Fenton are subject to delays of up to 40 minutes.

    More than 900,000 people have now signed an petition started by a solicitor from Leeds to cancel Donald Trump's state visit to the UK.

    The petition has gained attention amid a growing backlash against his travel ban on refugees and people from several mainly-Muslim countries.

    The US president accepted an invitation to visit Britain later this year, where he is due to be hosted by the Queen and would be treated to all the pomp and ceremony accorded to a state visit. 

    Graham Guest, who started the petition in November, says "A state visit legitimises his presidency and he will use the photo opportunities and being seen with the Queen to get re-elected.

    "At the end of the day he is still the President and we've just got to live with that."
