The 12cm spider hitched a ride for more than 8000 miles in the box of bananas, which was bound for a Leeds branch of Iceland.

Huntsman spiders aren’t deadly but apparently they can give a nasty bite.

Bosses at Arriva buses have issued a formal apology to Wakefield wheelchair user, Kirsty Shepherd.

Ms Shepperd was left stranded on the road-side 10 days ago, when a bus driver between Rothwell and Wakefield refused to let her on-board because their was a lady with a baby buggy already on.

As a result of the Wakefield incident the bus was delayed and a number of passengers got off before it returned into service
