    The York Central MP and Labour shadow minister Rachael Maskell has resigned from the party's front bench over Brexit.

    She was among a number of Labour MPs to vote against triggering Article 50. 

    In York 58% of people voted to remain in the EU in last year's referendum. 

    A majority of 384 MPs backed the European Union bill last night. 

    Rachael Maskell, who until yesterday was Shadow Environment Secretary, says she resigned from her position in order to vote in line with her principles:
