  3. Plans relaunched to get a Stoke statue to Motorhead's Lemmypublished at 17:42

    A campaign to get a statue , externalof the former Motorhead frontman Lemmy built in Stoke-on-Trent is to be relaunched.

    The Burslem-born rock star died last night at the age of 70, after a short battle with cancer. 

    Niall Plumb, who tried to get the statue built several years ago, external, told BBC Radio Stoke he is now ready to try again.

    A couple who've been helping to feed homeless people in Stoke-on-Trent have told BBC Radio Stoke they want to open their own centre in the new year.

    Jeannette and Glyn Jackson set up Help for the Homeless, external after deciding to give up their evenings and say they feed up to 60 people a night. 

    Now they say they can't keep up with demand - and will look to expand.

    The Motorhead frontman Lemmy, who was born in Stoke-on-Trent and who has died aged 70, has been remembered by the rest of the band as "our mighty, noble friend".

    He had been diagnosed with cancer on Saturday - two days after his 70th birthday - and died at home with his family on Monday.

    The Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has been speaking to the BBC about Lemmy and says he lived a rock 'n' roll life.

    Police searching for a man reported missing from the Kidsgrove area say they have found his body.

    Staffordshire Police, external say they have been looking for Darren Porter, 37, since Sunday and his body was discovered early yesterday morning. 

    Officers say the death is not being treated as suspicious.

  16. Care home taken out of special measurespublished at 15:39

    A care home in Tamworth for people who may have dementia has made enough improvements to be taken out of special measures, external, according to inspectors.

    The Care Quality Commission (CQC) says Spring Tree Rest Home was previously judged to be "inadequate" and that people "were not receiving care that was safe and effective". 

    In its latest inspection report, the CQC says it's improved enough to come out of special measures but more still needs to be done. 

    The BBC has asked the care home for a response and they haven't yet come back to us.
