    About 6,000 children are born in the UK each year with a syndrome without a name - a genetic condition so rare that it's often impossible to diagnose.

    Now doctors here in the Midlands are leading the way by offering help and support to thousands of families who are desperate for answers. 

    I've been at the first clinic for such children and you'll see my report on Midlands Today from 18:30 on BBC One.

    A footpath in Stafford has been closed because of a number of trees that are considered to be a danger to the public., external

    Stafford Borough Council says around 130 "crack willows" that line the Pearl Brook Pathway near the Kingsmead Local Nature Reserve are due to be felled.

    The authority says they're in poor condition.

    However the council says the work won't be carried out until the end of the bird nesting season in September.

    Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis has told me he's grateful the club's board has backed him. 

    It followed a fans forum at Gresty Road.

    Chairman John Bowler promised to match this season's budget in 2016-17, despite the relegation.

    A Staffordshire firefighter who went to help a man who'd been stabbed, external has been commended for his bravery by the fire service.

    Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service says Matthew Owens was at a music event in Blackpool last year when he gave first aid to the man.

    The service says he had to continue giving the man chest compressions when his pulse stopped as paramedics had been delayed, due to reports of men with knives in the area.

  7. Woman sprayed in face in robbery after placing Gumtree adpublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 29 April 2016

    A woman's been sprayed in the face with an "unknown substance" in a doorstep robbery in Burton.

    Staffordshire Police, external say she'd placed an advert on Gumtree about selling two mobile phones.

    However when two men came to her home on Wednesday afternoon they sprayed her in the face and then stole the phones. 

    The force says the woman's been left with discomfort in both eyes.

    The A500 D Road in Stoke-on-Trent is partially blocked northbound at the Basford roundabout, because of a broken down vehicle.

    Congestion is back to the Hanford Interchange.

    Port Vale's manager Rob Page says he hasn't completely ruled out making the play-off places in League One.

    The stories of 20 Newcastle-under-Lyme landmarks are featured on a new mobile phone app. 

    The Heritage Trail allows people to watch a video about each landmark by scanning a picture in a booklet - Glen James (in video) helped research, write and produce the videos.

    It's hoped that it will encourage young people to learn more about local history.

    A Cheshire girl who urgently needs a double-lung transplant is awaiting treatment.   

    Elle Grace Morris from Wrenbury has cystic fibrosis and created a list of 10 wishes she wanted to do before, external her 10th birthday in January. 

    They included being a princess for the day and making a music video. 

    Now her mother Becky told BBC Radio Stoke she's been put on a transplant list by Great Ormond Street Hospital and it's now "a waiting game".

  18. Tomasz Bachta stabbing: Police thank community for 'critical information'published at 15:12 British Summer Time 29 April 2016

    The community of Burton has been thanked by Staffordshire Police, external for helping them jail four men over the fatal stabbing of Tomasz Bachta. 

    The force's investigating officer, Det Insp Dan Ison said people in the area provided "critical information" that helped to get the convictions. 

    He added that it had been a "challenging and complicated investigation".
